TITLE USB MEDIA BLOCKING IN UNIT

Objective:

Blocking of USB media devices on all Laptop & Desktop in order to enhance the data
security and protect machines from malicious attacks.

Description:

Block USB media devices using device control feature through Antivirus or windows
registry.

 USB Media access to be blocked for all Laptop/Desktop user

 Business Centre Machines will be exempted from this blocking

 User will share their files through UIC

 In case of any data access through USB drive, User need to contact to local IT

 Local IT will scan the device on his machine and share the data through UIC

Procedure1:

Following are the steps for USB Media blocking through Trend Micro:

1. Log on to the WFBS-SVC console

2. Click Devices > Choose the group you want to configure

3. Choose Configure Policy

4. Under the Windows tab, choose Device Control

5. Tick Enable device control to start using the feature

6. Tick Block the autorun function on USB storage devices to block the autorun
function in external devices and provide autorun protection

7. Under the Permission dropdown menu, select “List device content only” and click
on Save

Procedure2:

Following are the steps for USB Media blocking through Windows Registry (Win 7,8,10):

1. Go to Start > Run, type “regedit” and press enter to open the registry editor

2. Navigate to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

3. Select Start and change the value to 4. (The value 4 will disable USB Storage)

4. Click OK
