When we multiply any whole number by 10, the number is getting 10 times
bigger. This means that each digit moves one place value column to the left and
we use 0 as a place holder in the ones column.
When we multiply any whole number by 100 the number gets 100 times bigger.
This means that each digit moves two place value columns to the left and we
use 0 as a place holder in the ones and tens columns.
1 Use the place value tables to multiply these numbers by 10 and 100:
