set of fictional works that will assist them in their
writing skills.
Pedagogy Planning
Activity In the lesson, the teacher will describe different types of writing.
Students will be shown examples of fiction and nonfiction, as
well as how the author may be using persuasion in the fiction
pieces as well. The teacher will then allow the students to open
up the Writing Prompts application. Students will be asked to
generate a prompt and write persuasive fiction and nonfiction
pieces on the prompt. The generator in the application uses
genres, current events, and other resources for its prompts. The
students will be able to create works that the teacher can then
write notes upon and ask questions. After revising the piece a
few times, the students can then share their work with their
classmates and show the stories they have created in attempt to
persuade their audience. The activity is intended for each
student to practice writing skills, organization, developing
arguments, and others. Each student will be able to get feedback

and revise their pieces all while being engaged in the different
prompts the application provides.

My students are using the Scribble Together
Whiteboard mobile application on their individual
cell phones or tablets to collaborate with their
peers and to create timelines and flowcharts to
discuss, explain, and analyze texts from American
Literature.
In a lesson, students may read F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful
and the Damned. The novel exemplifying an idea of the
American Dream in literature will be read; however, the teacher
needs to know If the students truly understand the material.
With Scribble Together Whiteboard, students can work in groups
or as an entire class to create a canvas that may give plot
outlines, use literary devices and give examples within the text,
draw pictures or diagrams, make flow charts, and even import
excerpts from the book they may not understand so others can
assist them in annotating the text. The students can share their
whiteboards and many people can add to them to collaborate.
Students can work synchronously or asynchronously to create a
great document that may be useful when it comes to studying
for a paper or test on the book, or the app may be used for
students to create a project as the assessment of the novel.
While the students are working collaboratively, the teacher can
have access to the boards as well to answer questions real-time,
assist in getting timelines properly organized, help with word
choice, and even ensure students are remaining on-task.
