TEST AND RESULT OF THE PROGRAM SIMULATION

5.1 TIA Portal V13 (Siemen PLC Software)

TIA Portal V13 is a program creator of Simatic modules series such as Simatic
S7 PLC for computers. TIA Portal V13 is especially famous for its user interface.

5.1.1 S7 PLCSIM V13 (Siemen PLC Software)

S7 PLCSIM V13 is the software for simulating the PLC related programs
written in the TIA Portal V13.
In simulation software, the input and output signal will show “HIGH” as
“TRUE” and “LOW” as “FALSE”.

5.2 PLC Program of the Sprinkler Fire Pumps Operation System

The program is created in the TIA Portal program since the PLC used in this
paper is Simatic S7-1500 series. The program is then simulated in the S7-PLCSIM
V13.

5.3 PLC Program Simulation

In this program, the flow switch and bar sensor are input of the program and
fire pump and jockey pump are output of the program.

In this state, the flow switch sensor is always on state position. When the
emergency fire case, the sprinkler heads are ruptured. So the water flow through the
flow switch sensor and sent the signal to pump control panel. In another state position,
the flow switch sensor is sent the signal to pump control panel when the pressure
leakage within the pipe.

The pressure switch is measured the water pressure in riser pipe of the fire
sprinkler system. In this simulation the pressure switch is used as a bar sensor. In
normal operation, over the 5.5 bar sensor the jockey pump is operated to restore the
pressure.

In emergency fire case, the sprinkler heads are ruptured and water flow
through the sprinkler heads and to limit and control the growth and expansion of fire.
So the water pressure drops in pipe. Between 3.5 bar sensor range, the pressure switch
sent the data to pump control panel to operate the fire pump 1.

When the pressure drop continuously under the 3.5 bar, 1 bar sensor range
sensor sent the data to pump control panel to operate the fire pump 2.

After emergency fire case, the operator presses the stop button. So the fire
pump operation system is reached the normal state. The flow switch is sense the water
flow in the pipe.
