Foreword
Between the last edition of our catalog and this, Amici has been
successful in promoting energy efficient heating systems. With
the help of partner organizations like the Hotel Engineers
Association of the Philippines (HEAP) who share our vision to
promote energy management best practices, we were able to
execute our seminar "Water Heating Systems: Towards Energy
Conservation" twice in Manila and one in Cebu. To everybody who
participated in the information dissemination of energy efficient
water heating, we should be proud of ourselves. Cheers.
We are proud of our long list of clients using our Energy Efficient
Water Heating Systems. We hope you can also be our partner
towards energy efficiency and conservation.

Going. Go. Green.
Amici Water Systems joins the world in the global race in Going Green. Amici is dedicated
to finding eco-friendly products and solutions for the sustainability of the planet. This 2010,
Amici is excited to present its green technologies for different water systems applications:
Water Heating, Swimming Pool Equipment and Pressure Systems.

TEMPLIFIER: McQuay TGZ Templifier water heaters use a
unique technology to recover large amounts of heat that wou
typically be rejected from the building and then use that hea
for processes, building heat, or domestic hot water. The nam
says it all: Temperature Amplifier — Templifier. For more o
templifiers, see pages 6-7.
SWIMMING
POOL POOL PUMP: A breakthrough in energy-efficiency and
service life, the IntelliPro® Variable Speed Pump allows
programming for four different speeds for different pool,
spa or water features applications. Pump speeds are
easily adjusted with the push of an up or down arrow
button. Standard pool pumps can consume as much
energy as all other home appliances combined. Sta-rite
IntelliPro® pumps can cut energy use up to 90%,
generally saving in utility costs annually. Browse
through page 25 for more information.
With rising gas prices and global warming, environmental and energy
concerns has rapidly grown over the last few years. In line with this, Amici
comes up with seminars to introduce technologies that helps our environment.
Amici is committed to providing your water equipment solutions that
contribute to a cleaner world.

Hence, the first Solar-Heat Pump Water Heating System in the Philippines is installed.
The performance of the Solar-heat pump water heating system in Shangri-la Edsa is excellent. It is
not free as pure solar energy. It never is. But using heat pump as backup, it's as close to free as
it gets. Operating cost is reduced by more than 80%. Now all steam boilers of Shangri-la Edsa
have been shut down, except for a small capacity to serve steam and high temperature
requirements for kitchen and laundry.

Heat Pump
System
Although the solar-heat pump water heating system is a very effective and efficient water
system, heat pump water heating system alone has grown to be even more popular given the
heating
cheap operating costs, 24 hour availability, at a relatively smaller investment and foot print.
Heat Pump Water Heaters, the heart of the Solar-Heat Pump System operate so efficiently that it is
common and reasonable for retrofitting working electric and gas heaters and boilers.
Establishments who have previously used gas-fired heaters that have now shifted to heat pump
water heaters are the following: Victoria Court hotels (Malate, Cuneta, Gil Puyat, Las Pinas,
Balintawak, North Edsa, Malabon, Escarpment, Hill Crest, Canley and San Fernando Pampanga),
Astoria Plaza and Sogo hotels (Novaliches, Cubao, Kalentong, Sta. Mesa, Recto, Harrison, Pasay,
Bacoor Cavite, San Pedro Laguna, Guadalupe, Alabang).

A.O. SMITH GLASS LINING SETS THE STANDARDS
For long tank life, nothing matches the quality of A. O. Smith's PermaGlas coating, standard
on all our Stock Tanks and one of your many choices on Custom Tanks. Permanently bonded
to all inner tank surfaces at 1600°F, PermaGlas provides truly superior protection against
corrosion. And every A.O. Smith glass-lined tank is further protected against corrosion by
single or multiple magnesium anode rods.
Advanced Tank Design & Glass Lining Technology
Almost every commercial water heater made has a glass lined tank to protect against
corrosion and leaks. But only A. O. Smith can protect its premium heaters and tanks with
exclusive PermaGlas Ultra Coat.
1. 2.
The process starts when the bare tank PermaGlas Ultra Coat, in “slush” form
components (including the tank shell, is then poured into the completed
heads and bottoms and the heat tank. The tank is then sealed and
exchanger) are welded together before rotated in several directions, to allow
application of PermaGlas Ultra Coat the coating to precisely cover all
water-side inner tank surfaces, and the
interior of the heat exchanger

Tank Selection
When using large standard galvanized tanks, a constant air cushion is required for proper operation of the water
System. The illustrations show the percent of tank volume as related to the pressure gauge reading. To determine
The amount of water you will receive as drawoff from the tank, you should subtract the smaller number from the
larger number to get the percentage. Then multiply by the size of the tank to get the gallons drawoff.
Example:
50Lbs = 77.3
Minus 30 lbs = 67.2
= 10.1%
Multiply x 120 gallon size (size of tank)
= 12.12 gallons drawoff

Pool Chlorine Pool chemical guide / spa
Guide
Directions: For new or newly refilled pools, add 10 oz. of chlorine per
10,000 gallons of pool water. Then run the filtration system for 24 Daily Dosage
hours. Adjust ph to 7.4 - 7.6 and test for chlorine residual. Do not Pool Capacity Unstabilized Stabilized
allow bathers to swim when chlorine residual is above 2.00 PPM. (US Gal) Pool Water Pool Water
Then simply follow the chlorine dosage shown below.
5000 1/8 kg 1/16 kg
Superchlorination: Should pool water appear cloudy or dirty, add 20 10000 1/6 kg 1/12 kg
oz. of chlorine concentrate per 10,000 gallons, allowing the pool filter 15000 ¼ kg 1/8 kg
to run so as to turn the pool water over in the pool. This process 20000 2/5 kg 1/5 kg
should be repeated until the pool water is clear and sparkling. 25000 ½ kg ¼ kg
Normal chlorination is not necessary during this process. Do not 50000 1 kg ½ kg
allow bathers when chlorine residual is over 2.00 PPM.
Raising PH with Soda Ash
(When PH level is under 7.4 – 7.6, add this amount of Soda Ash then retest.)
