SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN in EARTH SCIENCE
Year Level- Grade 11/12
I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

 Explain how the movement of plates leads to the formation o folds

and faults
 Define what is fold
 Identify the six types of folds
 Define what is fault
 Identify the five types of faults
 construct a model of the one of the types of folds/faults out of
recyclable materials
 appreciate the importance of the the movement of plates leads to
the formation o folds and faults

a. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of plate

tectonics
b. Performance Standard: Using a model show the movement of plates that
will lead to the formation of different types of folds/faults
 Learning Competency: Explain how the movement of plates leads to
the formation o folds and faults
c.

II. Content:

 Topic: Deformation of the Crust

 Subtopic: Plate tectonics
 Skills: identifying, describing, explaining
 Values: initiative, cooperation, creativity

III. Learning Resources:

A.References: Earth and Life Science by Raymond Rodolfo

B.Materials: laptop, projector (for Powerpoint Presentation), visual aids

( pictures/ illustrations for 4pics—one word)

III.Procedures:

A. Routinary Acivities:
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance

B. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson

C. Establishing a purpose for the new lesson:

4 PICS 1 WORD

The teacher will divide the class into two groups. Each group will
choose a representative. The teacher will instruct the students to
identify what word is shown based on the pictures presented on the
board.
D. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson:

1. Present the lesson through Powerpoint using the laptop and LCD
projector.
E. Discussing a new concept and practicing new skills #1:
2. Activity:
2.1 Pre-Activity:
 Checking of materials
 Discussion of the procedures
2.2 Activity Proper: Students will be given 10 minutes to construct
 the model of the movement of plates leads to the formation o folds
and faults
Post-Activity: Presentation of the Outputs/ constructed model
Evaluation of the performance through a rubrics.

F. Developing Mastery:

The teacher will ask the following questions:

1. Enumerate the types of formation of folds/faults.

2. Identify each type in terms of deformation .

G. Finding practical application of concepts skills in daily living:

 How important are the the movement of plates leads to the formation o
folds and faults

H. Making generalizations and abstraction of the lesson:

I. Summarize the important concepts of the movement of plates leads to

the formation o folds and faults

A. Evaluate Learning: Answer the following questions in a 1 whole sheet

of paper.

I. Label the parts of the faults

II. Label the parts of the folds

B. Answer the following questions by writing the answer on the blank
provided.

___________________1. Referred to as an up-fold.

___________________2 Referred to as a down-fold.

____________________3. side part of a syncline or anticline

____________________4. Point where limbs change angle of dip.

____________________5. Direction of fold (axis)

_____________________6. Angle of limb with the horizontal.
