ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAYS :

1. An argumentative essay is a type of essay that presents


arguments about both sides of an issue. It could be that both
sides are presented equally balanced, or it could be that one
side is presented more forcefully than the other. It all depends
on the writer, and what side he supports the most.
PURPOSE :

 to present meaningful contribution to a field of research

COMPARE AND CONTRAST

Compare and contrast essays

EXAMPLE
To learn if the connection does exist in spite of
all the superficial differences it is necessary to
examine the goals of these activities relatively
to each other. If science is directed towards the
truth it is also possible to say that art is moving
in the same direction. Science demands truth
and is always very exact and categorical; it does
not accept any overshoots and is restricted by
scientific laws. It finds “mathematical” truth,
the truth that leads to changes.

drivers between the ages of 16 and 19
died in 2010 and over 282,000 were
injured.Despite their desire to want to

will make it in your body paragraph.
Focus on writing a clear,concise
statement that hints at the topics you
plan to discuss.

likely to cause accidents and they ae not
mature enough to understand the
repercussion of their actions.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Is a vital to your paper if there is


information that your audience needs to
be aware of to understand your topic.
It is simple providing information to help
the audience to understand the topic.

EXAMPLE

Driver’s license requirements are set by


each set, not to federal government.
Therefore,the legal driving age varies
from sate to state.All the states,with the
exception of maine, allow driver’s to
have a unrestricted licenses at the age
of 18.Maine’s age is 21.Most states
allows teenager as young as 16 to have
restricted licenses, usually meaning they
can drive as long as they are with a
parent or guardian.

BODY PARAGRAPHS

The body paragraphs are where you will explain the


evidence you have to support your thesis sta\tement.
Your body paragraphs should start with a topic
sentence written in your own words.
You should then include some form of rhetoric (such
as a fact of statistic ,an emotional anecdote,or a law
).that provide supports for your topic sentence.
Finally, the body paragraphs should contain a
sentence that explains how the evidence you’ve
provided proves your overall point.

EXAMPLE
 What is a claim?
A claim is a statement you make to support your
argument.
For example :
“bugs are highly nutritious and eating them can fix the
problem of hunger and malnutrition in the united states.”
What is evidence?

For each claim you make, you need to provide supporting


evidence.Evidence is factual information from reliable
sources.

For example :

“ Researchers at the Food and Agricultural Organization of


the United States state that ‘Termites are rich in
protein,fatty acids,and other micronutrients.Fried or Dried
termites contain 32 - 38 percent proteins.:

CONCLUSION
A piece of argumentive writing
usually ends by SUMMARISING the
most important details of the
argument stating once again what
the reader is to FOR or AGAINST.

Tobacco Smoking?
We were taught from an early age
that the body is the temple of the
Lord. So, it this is the case, then why
are we destroying our bodies.

damaging to your lungs, but it’s also
