Objectives:

1. Identify the probable cause of extinction.

-Genetic Pollution is a controversial term for uncontrolled gene flow into wild
populations. It is defined as “the dispersal of contaminated altered genes from
genetically engineered organisms to natural organisms, esp. by cross-pollination”, but
has come to be used in some broader ways.

-Habitat Destruction is the process by which natural habitat becomes incapable of

supporting its native species. In this process, the organisms that previously used the site
are displaced or destroyed reducing biodiversity.
-Predation, habitat loss, competition and disease transmission by feral pigs' includes the
impacts on native ecosystems, flora and fauna due to the presence of feral pigs, their
movement, rooting, wallowing, trampling, tusking or rubbing trees, and consumption of
water, animals, plants and soil organisms.
-Coextinction and cothreatened refer to the phenomena of the loss or decline of a host
species resulting in the loss or endangerment of other species that depends on it,
potentially leading to cascading effects across trophic levels.
-Climate change occurs when changes in Earth's climate system result in
new weather patterns that last for at least a few decades, and maybe for millions of years.
The climate system comprises five interacting parts, the air, water, ice, living things,
and earth's crust and upper mantle.

2. Cite ways to help protect and preserve local endangered species.

 Educate yourself and your family about endangered species in your area
 Recycle and buy sustainable products
 Grow native plants
 Reduce your water consumption
 Reduce your personal footprint
 Do not buy plastic products
 Volunteer your time to protect the wildfire in your area
 Do not purchase products from companies that are known as polluters
