1. Disassembly Figure 1
a. Remove OE 3-5-R clutch pack.
Snap Ring
b. Locate, remove and discard all pieces of broken OE waved plate. Not
c. Discard OE steel plate located next to waved plate. included

2. Installation & Assembly
kit.
a. Install Sonnax waved plate on top of piston.
b. Install Sonnax cupped steel plate on top of waved plate,
lip facing downward (Figure 1). 3 Friction Rings
& 2 Steels
c. Continue assembling clutch pack as shown (Figure 1).

3. Verify Correct Clearance

After snap ring installation, verify clutch pack clearance is within Cupped Steel Plate
specification (.020–.060") using a dial indicator. (Lip faces downward)

NOTE: If there is too much clearance, the piston has been Waved Plate
distorted. In these cases, piston replacement is required to
enable proper clearance.

Damaged splines caused by

3-5-R/4-5-6 Clutch Housing failed OE wave plate.
