SCHOOL HAS AN EVACUATION PLAN AND PROCEDURES

The first decision during a workplace emergency is whether the staff should
stay inside or evacuate the building. Most companies focus on crisis that involve
staying inside, such as earthquake drills, or what to do when an armed person
threatens violence, but where the plans come up short is planning for emergencies
that require an evacuation. The only way to ensure that cool heads prevail in a
crisis, and that employees arrive safely outside the building is to have a clearly
defined and well-practiced evacuation in place.

Evacuation plans are important for a number of reasons. First, it creates

clear chain of command. In the confusion of a workplace emergency, most people
want to run and get out of the building as quickly as possible; however, doing so
increases the risk of injury and property damage. Quezon Integrated School has
faculty and staff that is calm and prepared, level-headed set of leaders who can
coordinate essential tasks and oversee and orderly evacuation. Lastly, it serves as
a designated place. Evacuation plans let employees in in QIS know exactly where
to go after leaving the building. Rather than separating to different sides of the
building, or drifting to their vehicles, the plan lets the QIS staff know where they are
expected to be, and when they are expected to be there after the evacuation begins
together with their learners. Staying together after an evacuation is important,
because it enables the head counters to get an accurate account of everyone who
should have left the building, and heals the head counters pass along information
to emergency personnel about how many people are left in the building, and where
those people might be.

NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

Earthquake is one of the famous disasters that caused people died or injured. It cannot
be detected when and where it would be happened to anyone. This is mostly happened in
places where people are hanging around and working. In line with this, Quezon Integrated
School actively joined the 1st National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill for the year
2019 which was scheduled on February 21, 2019 at exactly 2:00 in the afternoon.
By this time, the Bureau of Fire Protection-Tagbina, headed by SFO1 Neil
N. Lapeciros, observed the said activity, if it was done and performed correctly by
all of the participants in the school. The SDRRM coordinators also tapped the
Students Rescuer Team to assist the drill.
The activity started with a short program and welcoming of visitors. It was
immediately followed by a short but very intensive lectures and demonstrations
on Basic Life Support from the chosen personnel of BFP-Tagbina. Sir Lapeciros
gave the preliminary pieces of information on how to prepare oneself if in case
Earthquake would come. FO1 RM A. Sabatin and FO1 Tinambacan also showed
and demonstrated to everyone on how to apply first aid to victims. Everybody
especially the pupils/students and all the teachers were soberly observing the
demonstrator as he taught everyone on how to use the following kit properly
depending upon the injured body part. Correct position and proper transferring of
the victim to bed were also taught. Afterwards, the mock drill followed. The siren
from fire truck signaled and everyone performed the things which are instructed.
The learners perform the basic things in the drill, the preparation, duck, cover and
hold, and up to going outside the open area. The students’ rescuer team were
opted to do the first aid to the said victim. It was more than what the people
expected. Learning was in the unexpected height.
The activity ended successfully. Everyone was already updated with the
information needed in terms of preparations to several disasters that may come.
They can use it not only for themselves but also to other people. They can also
share it to their families and friends which is the primary goal of the quarterly
conduct of the activity.
