1. Why did you choose your proposed course and institution ?

Beside of my passion on to gain business knowledge really most the reason me really interested
to pursuing Magister International Business Degree because I really want to be a business
player that capable to support economic growth in my hometown area (Bangka Belitung), and
expanding marketing agricultural products of the Bangka Belitung to the global level,
especially "White Pepper" and become part of Indonesian citizens who are able to increase the
nation's economic growth at the global level.

For this opportunity I wanna learn deeply about theoretical approaches, social diversity, macro
business, risk analysis, global business analysis, and intercultural communication where all of
these insight will help me to starting and realize my dream become entrepreneur global that
bringing happiness and usefulness to others people around me.

Bangka Belitung is the region that full of abundant agricultural resources but this time that
potential not yet absorbed optimally to improve the lives of local people, this is big problem for
me and it became my responsibility as an educated child who grew up from that area, one of
fact that makes me sad is about the absorption of export white paper my region, data show me
that the amount of Indonesian white pepper exports reaches 40 thousand tons per year with a
market share of 37 percent while the amount of white pepper production of Bangka Belitung
can reach 25 thousand tons per year and the amount of exports absorbed is only 12 tons or only
30 percent and below of 50% production. This fact hit me that the absorption of exports
agricultural product Bangka Belitung is still very lacking and requires special attention and
action to boost the export.

As an industrial engineering that working as a product development for a state-owned enterprise

(SOE) to print rupiah banknotes and security product for Republic of Indonesia, it provides
enough basic knowledge and skills for me to increase add value of product and change the
product to be more attractive for consumers but to gain a global market share and become a
global commodity need, of course technical skill is not enough for me, the knowledge that I
need is the global branding strategy (Marketing management) and international trade that I will
get on the international business course that I am proposed this time.

Only few university which offer excellent complete program which combine the interrelated
disciplines of international business and entrepreneurship at the same time there are curtin
university that equipped with “Modern simulation software” to optimize learning process of
students and I found that Griffith university having access to world class resources facilities
and wide connection to engage the international business community because their lecturer
came from international business expert that mean giving door to information and ideas from
both home and abroad real issue business widely and create more opportunities for me, so these
two universities are the universities that I am looking for.

Studying at Institutions that having a high international student population filled with
multicultural diversity such as Curtin and Griffith University provides more points and distinct
advantage for me to face the real world of global business that full of different diversities.

2. How will the proposed study contribute to your career ? (2000 character)

To could Join a group of young Indonesian entrepreneurs in Bangka Belitung that we call as
HIPMI who have more than 5 years of background and business experience, of course I need
an interesting offers and ideas that attract for them about the upgrade concept to increasing the
"white paper" export-import business that I offer so they are accept my idea as well and that
can be realized together as expected as well, to explain it all and make a mature business
concept especially provision for me to become a successful export-import player I need capable
international trade input such as:
 The science of Import and Export Administration that very much needed for me to be able to
manage the shipping system without obstacles and the mechanism of returning or removing
import duties of extra goods and supply chain activities (in and out of products).

The cross-cultural management and communication of international business this is basic

knowledge that I must have to be global entrepreneur to provide the most understanding about
the different sets of standards for honoring business obligations and international norms that
apply between countries to getting a win-win solution for negotiation and decision making

Macroeconomics and International Business Risk Analysis This science is the basic that I must
have in establishing trade strategies and trade destination countries that I will do by analyzing
various internal and external factors that may occur like a political, world trade policy,
economic growth, and social life destination country community.

Science Investment Economics is useful for me to be able to expand the long-term business and
attract other investors to get involved, Business Statistics science that I need to analyze the
percentage of market opportunities that I can enter, and simulating the level of success and
failure that might occur when I’am running my own business.
Definitely knowledge that I will gain from the international business course that I have proposed
at the Australia Award scholarship will mean a lot to me in creating the business concept that I
have planned and involving myself in starting the world of global entrepreneurship with the
others young entrepreneurs, therefore I need a strong business analysis of the shortcomings and
possible opportunities that we can increase from the current export-import system of white
pepper Bangka Belitung which only reaches 30% or 12 tons from the total Indonesian white
pepper export in 2018.
Marketing strategy that I get from this course, it will be used to make attractive and persuasive
packaging displays and submission of cooperation with the government of Bangka Belitung to
increase public enthusiasm in utilizing the system of "Warehouse Receipts" that the government
has in accordance with the Law No. 9 of 2006, this way will help us to get white pepper from
society and access to be involved in the International Pepper Community (IPC) with the aim of
white pepper that produced by the people of Bangka Belitung can be marketed more widely in
the global market.

3. How have you contributed to solving a challenge and to implementing change or reform? (Be
specific and include: what aspect/s of your leadership knowledge, skills and practice you consider
to be well established and effective; which people or organisations you worked with to solve the
problem; and what creative methods were used.)* (2000 Character)

The first experience working as a production process analysis in November 2019 with
environment employee who are mostly 35 years old and above from 2000 employees provided
different thoughts and perspectives in looking the situation or problem. For example it could
be a routine activities that they do everyday is normal for them and is not any problem, but for
us as a new comer, seeing the manual routines they do every day is a big problem.

Efficiency and effectiveness are the main things to supporting and increasing work productivity
which will have indirect impact toward company profitability both in terms of time and cost.
Looking at the production process of excise stamp directly start from inputing production plan
manually to excel system, unflexibility of the sequence production processes, monitoring and
 reporting finish goods less controlled causing delays in the delivery of product which should
have been sent earlier with a batch order that came later.
The science of production planning and inventory control that I have as an industrial engineer,
Me and my division friends with background Information Technology collaborate together to
create a digital production process planning system based on "Andon Board”.

“Andon Board” system is a sequence of production process systems using the First In First Out
concept which integrated with the visual of Andon boards and equipped with an early warning
alarm to monitoring batch ordet that have not been processed 3 days before the delivery
deadline.

The presence of these computerized and digital based system can increase the efficiency of the
production process which previously took 600 minutes from the planning process to the
production process now being only 52 minutes or efficient by 91%. It’s possible to do by
eliminating the order input process manually be a process of practical digital platform scanning
and database recall.
This Andon board visualization system is also a media for management to monitor the
achievement of production processes in real time so that the reporting process becomes faster
and accurate.
Point that I’am always remember in living my life is everything is possible everything will be
happen if we changing the way our thinking.

Firstly, with relationships that I have obtained such as lecturers, classmates or a community
of entrepreneurs I will take a personal approach to get information or a way to enter the
world trade community such as the International Pepper Community (IPC), International
Trade Promotion Center and others, this conducted for marketing white pepper products
to a wider market.

Secondly, Create an online website for agents or supplier white pepper, where farmers can
sell or transactions to our supplier agents that closest to their area. With this online
transaction access, it will make easy farmers to sell their products to us with a competitive
prices or market prices, this facility will bring benefit for farmers.

Not only as a media for farmers, this website also provide sale transaction for white pepper
cross-country with the other countries.

The last is establish fostered youth community where I can provide business mentoring to
young generation about the knowledge and practice entrepreneurship and how to use
potential resources around them. And more than that In this community we are also provide
assistance to young people who want to start a business is one of my dream to be more
useful for other young people to achieve the same dream.

One of the possible obstacles that I will face is the difficulty of getting the network and
foreign market share to expand our market but that over the time and effort to be involved
in the international network, community, and online network that all will be overcome.
