The Percentage of Grade 12 Students in Our Lady of

the Pillar Academy that prefers Qualitative Research


INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study

The academic society has been found the significance of research studies since
humanity has started to create and innovate things and technology. This enabled us to
obtain what we have today in our world in pursuit for a more convenient and good
quality of life. Nowadays, people continue to do research to unfold the queries of
mankind and to provide platforms that will be beneficial to mankind. Consequently, the
academic society integrated research as a prerequisite for the students’ academic life. In
this manner, the students can exercise their critical and analytical skills through
experiencing research as part of their curriculum.

In research, there are two ways that you can use for your collected data. These are
through the quantitative and the qualitative means. To simply put, quantitative data
deals more on numbers and figures to prove the points of your research. On the other
hand, qualitative data deals with the elaborate details to explain your research. A
researcher should know these research data analysis types in order for them to know
what is best to use for their desired research. In quantitative, the researchers are to
collect facts which are usually in the form of numerical data. It is a structured and
statistical approach where computations and graphical charts can be seen in treating
the data collected. In qualitative, the researchers are to collect informations. These
informations usually appear as the people’s impressions, opinions and views.
Furthermore, it is less structured. It aims to delve deep into the research topic to obtain
information about the people (respondents) thinking, attitude or motivations. Results
are usually laid out in the form of long narratives and explanations.

Given these facts, the researchers formulated an inquiry that concerns about the
percentage of students who use qualitative type of research delimited on Grade 12
students in Our Lady of the Pillar Academy.
Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this study is to assess the percentage of Grade 12 students in Our Lady
of the Pillar Academy who actually use Qualitative type of research. The researchers
yearn to know the possible reasons and to finally arrive into hard fact (numerical data)
as a result. Furthermore, this could be beneficial for the students of Our Lady of the
Pillar Academy in a way that they can know the best type to use when they will conduct
their research in the future.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This is study is significant to the following:

Students: This could create an idea for the students as to which research type would
they want to use.

Readers: This outcome of this study can possibly let the readers understand the possible
reasons whether or not the Grade 12 students who are having their research favors
qualitative research.

Parents: This study could basically give them a background about research studies.

Teachers: This will let the teachers have an understanding as to why their students in
Grade 12 would prefer either qualitative or quantitative study. In the same manner,
they can also guide their students more on the type of research that they would want.

Fellow researcher: This study could be their basis when they will decide to conduct a
similar research as this. Similar by meaning is that having the same nature of topic but
perhaps, of different scale or respondents. They could also help on criticizing this study
to improve its result.
