THIRTY-ONE

PRINCIPLES

That will change your life for the better

JOSHUA SINGH
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure everything out on your own.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do,

everywhere you go;

He’s the one who will keep you on track.

PROVERBS 3:5-6 - MSG

Most humans want it all figured out.
Are you one of them?

The best way to get direction is to read the

map, bit by bit.

One of the best signs when you make a

decision, other than the promise of God's word,
is when He gives you peace.
You use steel to sharpen steel, and one
friend sharpens another.
PRACTICAL TIP

Who is that one person in your life who is

secure in their own skin,

Gets straight to the point,

And is always trying to help you improve

yourself?
To learn, you must love discipline;
it is stupid to hate correction.
Until you love discipline, you will never grow.

Every great man or woman that has reached

the top had disciplines that helped them get
there.

What is one area in your life that you can

increase your discipline in?
Put God in charge of your work,
then what you’ve planned will take place.
Doing things God’s way will get you
God-results.

His ways are found in His word.

Is there work that you are involved in,

that God is not in?
A good woman is hard to find
and worth far more than diamonds.
If you can buy a woman/man with things,
she/he is probably not worth it.

Good partners are hard to find these days.

Are you focused on finding the right one or

being the right one?
Words kill, words give life; they’re either
poison or fruit—you choose.
Words have power.

The words we speak are actually the overflow

of our hearts.

Have you examined what you have allowed to go

into your heart?

Sooner or later, it will come out.

Keep company with the wise and you will
become wise.

If you make friends with stupid people,

you will be ruined.
“Show me your friends and I will show you your
future”, is a quote you may have come across!

Consider who you surround yourself with the

most in a 24 hour period.

Be careful who you associate with; Watch out

for who pours into your life.

Don’t just let anyone come in and start placing,

and speaking things into your life.
When right-living people bless the city,
it flourishes; evil talk turns it into a ghost town
in no time.
I have heard people blaming political leaders
for the condition of their city.

Usually, it is the people who are living right,

that can make all the difference to their
community.

Are you contributing value to the society that

you live in?
A gossip goes around telling secrets,
but those who are trustworthy can keep a
confidence.
Reconsider the way you look at people who
gossip. They are dangerous!

That is why I choose to get away from people who

talk too much. If the people around you talk about
other people’s life without their permission, they
may also talk about your life to others without
your permission.

How often do you evaluate who you surround

yourself with?
A gentle answer quiets anger,
but a harsh one stirs it up.
The way we respond to angry people, matters.

Rather than showing who has more power and
authority,

I have learnt that my tone can determine the

outcome of a conversation.

How can you improve the way that you respond

to things you don't like?
I am Wisdom, I am better than jewels; nothing
you want can compare with me.
In this proverb, wisdom is personified as a
person.

Wisdom is superior than anything, and is

priceless.

Have you spent too much time striving for

material things but not the wisdom that can
build your legacy?
Don’t ever say, “I’ll get you for that!”
Wait for God; He’ll settle the score.
Rather than taking matters in your own hands,
you have got to trust that God’s got your back.

It is better when you do, because He sees things

that you cannot.

Remember, He has got the birds-eye view but

you have a limited point of view.

Are you allowing God to play His role as the

judge?
A gift gets attention; it buys the attention of
eminent people.
The best way to get access to famous people,
is to get good at ONE thing.

That ONE gift will make you stand out from

the rest.

It will just be a matter of time, until you are

discovered. Rather than you paying for their
time, famous people will pay you for yours.

Is there something you are naturally good at

which you have abandoned?
The world of the generous gets larger and larger;
the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.
Have you ever noticed that generous people
always have more friends, resources and
opportunities?

I am challenging you to give away what means

the most to you.

I can guarantee, that you will not only get

something back, but the way people engage
with you will change.
Short-tempered people do foolish things,
and schemers are hated.
Short tempered people always regret their
actions later down the road.

Especially, when you say things you don’t mean.

You cannot take away the scar of a painful

remark.

What areas in your life tick you off?

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything
you do flows from it.
Your actions, words, and behaviors are an
overflow of the condition of your heart.

Most people overlook the condition of their heart

and continue to stay in a state of brokenness.

Eventually, you end up carrying a lot of

unnecessary baggage which drags you down.

Are you carrying a load of unnecessary baggage

in your heart that is holding you back?
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Don’t you feel fulfilled when your dreams
become a reality?

Hal Lindsey once said “Man can live about forty

days without food, about three days without
water, about eight minutes without air...
but only for one second without hope”

Is there any area in your life where you feel

hopeless?
Form your purpose by asking for counsel, then
carry it out using all the help you can get.
A purpose statement in life is always powerful.
What’s your purpose statement?

My purpose is to

_____________________________________
So don’t waste your time on a scoffer; all you’ll
get for your pains is abuse. But if you correct
those who care about life, that’s different
—they’ll love you for it!
Have you ever given someone advice based on
your past experiences ?

However, them not listening to you really put

you off.

Don't waste your time on giving advice to people

who continually choose to ignore it.

They are ignorant. Only the wise listen, and put

the advice into action.
With me are riches and honor,
enduring wealth and prosperity.
Wisdom has benefits, these are: riches, honor,
wealth and prosperity.

Maybe you don't experience these benefits

straight away. But as you continually apply the
knowledge you have through God's word day by
day,

You'll start to see the benefits become a reality.

How do you identify if you are wise?

The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
We live in a world where the term ‘friends’ is
loosely defined.

The Righteous (a right-standing-person),

chooses their friends carefully.

What do you look for in a friend?

Remember being friendly and calling everybody

your friend is two different things
It’s a mark of good character to avert quarrels,
but fools love to pick fights.
If you love to pick fights or argue for no reason,
and love to win arguments (most people like to
win), it is a reflection of your character.

Just think before you raise your voice and have a

go at someone.

This week, try avoiding fights and arguments.

Avoid proving a point, and let the point prove

itself.
Lazy people want much but get little, but those
who work hard will prosper.
Procrastination is the enemy to progress.

What are you putting off that you need to finish?

Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty
come out of your mouth.

Say only what helps, each word a gift.

Watching the way you talk requires you to step
out of yourself and evaluate what you say from
another person's perspective.

I have found this to be a helpful exercise.

This exercise allows me to either tone down, or

become warmer in my approach.

Watching your words can save lots of heartache.

How often do you assess what you are speaking

into the atmosphere?
I have much to write you, but I do not want to
do so with pen and ink. I hope to see you soon,
and we will talk face to face.
If it is important, do not text.

Have a face to face conversation.

Texting, in many cases, can be misinterpreted.

You can say something, and it can be taken

completely differently by the recipient.

Are there problems you solve through text,

which should be done in person?
Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry
—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge.

And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry.

Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your
life.
It is common to get angry, but I have seen
people carry their anger into the next day,
which later, turns into a grudge.

This takes mental headspace, stress, and creates

unnecessary problems.

Do you allow your feelings, including anger, to

overtake you?

Every night, monitor your heart and check that

you have let go.
You lazy fool, look at an ant.
Watch it closely; let it teach
you a thing or two.

Nobody has to tell it what to do. All summer it

stores up food; at harvest it stockpiles
provisions.

So how long are you going to laze around

doing nothing? How long before you get out of
bed? A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a
day off there, sit back, take it easy—do you
know what comes next?

Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor

life, poverty your permanent houseguest!
Are you the ant or the sleeper?

Sleep is important, but do not let it take over

your life.

i.e If it's any longer than 7-9 hours,

Please reconsider the way you spend your time.
A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren;
ill-gotten wealth ends up with good people.
We do not own anything in this world,

we are just stewards.

This is the best way to look at things you have,

because at the end of the day when you pass
away you are taking nothing materialistic with
you.

Are you storing up your wealth in Heaven or on

Earth?
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it
does not boast, it is not proud. It does not
dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not
easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
You may say that you are in love with
someone.

However, if you are rushing to get things done

your way, for your benefit, without
consideration of the other person. It isn’t
love.

When was the last time you evaluated your

love for someone?
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its
own time.

He has planted eternity in the human heart,

but even so, people cannot see the whole
scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
Everything has a time. Time is limited. Maybe
you haven't got what you want at the time you
desired.

Give God the drivers seat in your car, and

allow Him to take you to the place He desires.

Consider His way, and lean on the fact that

He has got everything planned out, even before
you sat in the car.
Answering before listening is both stupid and
rude.
Have you ever been in a position where you have
blurted your side of the story without
considering what the other person has to say?

It is always better to listen than to speak.

That is why you have two ears and one mouth.

Thank you for reading this eBook,

I hope you can take something out of it and apply it

to your everyday life.

When you live with purpose, you'll die with a legacy.
