"We have been able to satisfy the chief judicial magistrate that Ghosh was one of the key
persons who masterminded the killing," said Rajdeep Majumder, one of the counsels for
the state.

Seven human skeletons were recovered near Ghosh's house while the soil near a pond
was being dug up. Shaymal Acharya, a villager of Anandapur, identified a skeleton as that
of his father Ajay - a Trinamool Congress supporter, who had mysteriously gone missing
on September 22, 2002.

Shaymal lodged a complaint with the police against six persons, including Ghosh - a six-
time MLA from Garbeta - and other district CPM leaders.
