NARRATIVE REPORT ON
CY 2018 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
In lieu of NDRRMC Memorandum No. 31, s. 2018, all schools are advised to conduct
earthquake drills as mandated in Section 2(d) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10121. The said activity
aimed to equip the school children with the knowledge, proper attitude and skills on what to do in
case of a natural disaster like an earthquake.

In this connection, Diamantina Elementary School conducted CY 2018 4th Quarter National
Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on November 05, 2018 at 8 o’clock in the morning with the optimum
support and participation of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and
Rescue 811.

The actual drill started with 1 minute siren that signalled an earthquake is happening. The
pupils from Kindergarten to Grade Six stayed in their respective classroom together with their teachers.
Everybody in their respected classes performed the three basic techniques during earthquake: dock, cover and
hold. After that, the teachers led their advisory class in heading to the designated assembly area. They were
group together according to the class where they belong. Then, all advisers did a headcount to make sure that all
pupils are accounted for. Those pupils who trapped or injured inside their respective classrooms were rescued
by the Rescue 811 personnel, BFP and PNP. They performed first aid to the victims. After the rescue operation,
BFP Aurora initiated the Fire Drill. Mr. Benjamin C. Quilnat Jr., School DRRM Coordinator, gave important
reminders about Disaster preparedness and he finally announced the termination of the drill.

Finally, the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill drill was successfully implemented and
nobody was injured because the routine is systematic and everyone was cooperative during the
activity. The pupils applied diligently what has been learned from the past earthquake drill and forum.
