Financial Accounting and Reporting 002 (ACCTG 007)

If you are new to accounting, you would think that all of the good things are seen
on the asset side of a company, and all that matters to you are just about the
resources. But little did we know that assets, liabilities and equity are of same
importance.

This subject taught us the significance of the different types of liabilities, as well
as the items that are found on the equity side. In our future profession, we should
know how to handle all the items found on the financial statements of a company and
not just focus on some. In this subject, we also learned about the standards and
guidelines especially accounting principles that govern liabilities and owner’s equity,
related internal control, ethical issues and management of liabilities and owner’s
equity are also under its scope.

This will help us a lot when we go out in the business world and deal with the
balance of the fundamental accounting formula which is assets equals liabilities plus
equity in order to be on par with every accountant out there.

Financial Management 001 (ACCTG 008)

In our future profession, business decisions and managements’ overall

administration is one of the core ground of our work because they will need our help
in making decisions or sometimes we’re the one responsible for making strategic
business decisions.

This subject taught us about the connection and link of financial functions with
the wholesome management of the firm’s capitalization and molded us with regards
to budgets, accounting system, fund flow and management of corporate assets.

Laws on Obligations and Contracts (BL 001)

Everything and everyone are governed with laws and regulations especially us
future accountants, we have a lot of laws and policies that we need to follow.

This subject is a must for every student of business, it is because on our future
day to day activities, we will be dealing with contracts and obligations that would be
binding on us and if we do not know things about it, we may be sued or be held liable
if we are not knowledgeable of our laws, and we should be mindful that ignorance of
the law excuses no one.

It is a good thing that this subject taught us about these because it would be one
of our advantages and weapons when we go out on the real word. This subject taught
us about the nature, sources, and types of obligations and the ways by which
obligations may be extinguished. Likewise, the course deals with contracts its nature,
essential elements, characteristics and forms, defective contracts are also under its
scope.

Human Behavior in Organization (BM 003)

When we become CPA’s, there is a high possibility that most of us will be

working in private organizations and that we will need to deal with our relationship
to every single person inside that organization, as well as to deal with their different
behaviors and to adapt also to the culture of the company. Thanks to this subject
because it taught us the factors affecting the behavior of individuals and groups in
organization focusing on the specific factors that tend to explain behavior of
individuals, groups, and organizations.

Various theories and models of organizational behavior, work group behavior,

motivation in life and work, and human relations among others are also considered
and related to organizational practices and phenomena under this subject.

Literatures of the Philippines (LIT 001)

In this subject, we studied about different literatures from all over the country
from the oldest pieces up to present.

This subject made us go back to our roots as Filipinos and made us appreciate
more of our history. It also taught us courage and bravery with the stories of the epic
heroes studied in this subject.

With these realizations, as future Certified Public Accountants, it taught us more

of the value of integrity, or to be courageous to strive for authenticity and not be
wavered by malpractices in the industry, and to be able to stand for what is right.

And last but not the least, it made us uphold patriotism even more. It made us
desire to serve the country first before any other foreign land from the inspiration we
received from this subject.

Politics, Governance, and the New Constitution with Public Service (POL SC 018)
Like the Laws on Obligations and Contracts subject, this subject dealt with laws
especially constitutional laws. Politics, governance and public service is also taught
in here. It is concerned with the structure and function of political systems, public
policy and political theory. The combined Economics (which is significant to
business students) / Political Science major provided us, students with rigorous
preparation in both economic theory and applications, and political processes at the
national and international levels.

This subject also taught us leadership which is also important to us, as we will
become future leaders, be it middle, or even top managers, in our respective careers
and organizations. It made us knowledgeable of the concept of politics in the country,
as we should, because responsible CPAs are responsible citizens.

The Church (RE 005)

Everything about the church is taught in this subject, the Church as an entity and
as a home to Catholics. Apart from those business subjects, this religious subject is
the most underrated, yet it can act as a fundamental foundation in doing things even
under our profession because this helped us nourished our spiritual soul in order to
promote growth in our lives.

This subject also acts as a guide in making our daily decisions in our lives, also
this is our identity, a true salettinian mark that distinguishes us from other CPA’s out
there, because a salettinian CPA is not just an accountant, instead, we are warriors
armoured with the grace of our Lord Jesus.
