Reflection No. 1: GIVE ME A LEVER LONG ENOUGH... AND SINGLE-HANDED I CAN MOVE
THE WORLD
“When there is a genuine vision, people excel and learn, not because they are told to,
but because they want to.” This is the line that I cannot really forget even after answering
accounting-related questions. This is the line that brought greatest impact to me as a learner
and it hit me, seriously. This line made my mind and soul to wake up.

Before this semester start, I told myself, “Chill lang tayo this sem ha” and just go with the
flow. I do not know what happened but I’ve temporarily lost the fire in me and the eagerness to
be excellent in my chosen field. All I wanted to do is to rest. My mind can’t even process
information at first, maybe because I am still on the process of adjusting to the new
environment. I can’t understand things easily unlike before. Then, there’s this subject, Systems
Thinking, Analysis and Design, which requires me to read every part of the Fifth Discipline book.
Honestly, in the midst of doing accounting assignments, I’ve found myself reading the first
chapter. The abovementioned line hits me hard up to my core conscience. It is because I am
taking the privilege given to me for granted. I’ve lost my interest in studying; fortunately, the first
chapter woke me up from sleeping and wandering.

As I read the first part, I remembered the three core values of Kingfisher: Courage,
Benevolence and Excellence. One must have courage to continually build their personalities
such as having patience, which is connected to personal mastery. One must also be
benevolent, ready to share his/her ideas, learnings, and realizations about something which is
then connected to mental models. Lastly, once a Kingfisher already acquired or learned these 2
core values, one can now be excellent. I also remembered Ma’am Marites Lambino, she said,
“Always have a clear vision.” After reading, there’s Sir Jervin who is constantly giving us
warnings to not be complacent.

The world’s relentlessly reminding me to be consistent, to continuously achieve my

dreams for my loved ones and to be willing to learn. I must always remind myself that I will
become what I want to be by consistently being what I want to become each day. (Richard D.
Scott) I am hoping that this subject will help me to know myself more, to think beyond what I see
and to accomplish my vision.
