THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

In Our modern society,it's difficult to imagine our life without social media.It’s has
covered all the spheres of our life and now it occupies the leading role in the life of
every person especially in every student's life that plays a vital role into more easier and
more convenient access of information and communication via social media.One of the
most popular and recognized application used on the internet are Social Networking
Sites (SNS) such as Facebook.

Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg.He developed Facebook while he


was a student at Harvard University initially as just a Social Networking Sites for the
university's students.When Facebook filed to go public in early 2012,Mark Zuckerberg
noted that Facebook was built to accomplish a social mission- to make the world more
open and connected.Facebook is now used by a much wider variety of users and
students are the "biggest fans" of this application.

The use of Facebook platform has grown so fast that it has even attracted the attention
of students;they are so engrossed in the sites that they have almost completely
forgotten almost their academic works.Students are easily tempted to use various social
media platforms when trying to obtain learning materials online.

Therefore,it is becoming difficult to ignore the fact that there might be a direct correlation
between Facebook usage and student academic performance shown at school.Since
the problem is relatively new, the researchers want to conduct their study because
based on many studies, there have been quickly overgrown users in internet and in
order to know what is the distributions that hinder the performance of the students the
research will be conducted in order to straighten the path of the students and their goals
will be more clear and objectives at school will be met.It is based on the concerns and
matters of a student in his/her academic performances so the researchers were inspired
to have a study entitled "Social Media Addiction: Facebook causes distraction to
the academic performance of Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students
in Metropolitan Institute of Arts and Sciences."
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to analyze the Social Media Addiction:Facebook causes distraction to the
academic performance of Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students in Metropolitan
Institute of Arts and Sciences.

Specifically,this study sought answers to the following questions:

1.What is the profile of the respondents in terms of :

1.1 Age
1.2. Gender

2. What are the length of hours covered of a student when using social media?

3. What are most commonly used applications in social media that students are into?

4. How do Facebook affects the student in getting low performance in school?

5. What are the recommendations in order to establish a good relationship of using social media
specifically Facebook in getting higher grades and performances in school?

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Language is definitely the medium of instruction.It is through language people do


understand each other. In this light, language became a very important skill man has to
learn in order for him/her to survive to the environment he/she living in.Furthermore,
man was born with mother language-language which he inherits from his
parents.Moreover, he has a second language aside from his mother language.

Globally,English may not be the most spoken language,but it is the official language of
53 countries and spoken by around 400 million people across the globe.English is the
lingua franca or "common language" of the world.Philippines is known to be a good and
largest English speaking country in Asia.It became the second language in the
Philippines, if not their mother, Filipino use English language for communication.In
schools from basic education up to college, English language is being taught.Almost
everywhere in the country English can be heard, and almost all types of people
regardless of race and educational attainment know the language.Even the Philippine
constitution is written in English.

Making mistakes is a natural part of learning English and they are only bad if you allow
them to be, and if you don't learn by them.Fear is a lot of what sets adult and young
language learners apart.But there is good news to students who fear that their window
for language learning is closed.According to didactics and neuroscientific studies, the
human brain can learn every subject at any moment of our lives just because of fear of
making mistakes,students stops the learning process and also their performance in
school.

Furthermore, this study is conducted to asses how senior high school students of
Metropolitan Institute of Arts and Sciences are familiar the English language and how
proficient they are in using language in communication specifically in speaking.
Moreover, this study aims to determine the different factors and conditions that may
affect the students' performance in speaking.The researchers want to conduct their
study because based on the concerns and matters of a student in his/her academic
performances so the researchers inspired to have a study entitled "Fear of Commiting
Mistakes:Difficulties in Speaking English language of Senior High School in
Metropolitan Institute of Arts and Sciences"
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to analyze the "Fear of Commiting Mistakes: Difficulties in Speaking
English Language of Senior High School Student."

Specifically, this study sought answers to the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents to the following;

1.1 Age
1.2 Grade level
1.3 Gender
1.4 First language spoken (Mother tongue) ?

2. Why do students find difficult to speak english?

3. How they deal with their own difficulties in speaking english?

4. What are the factors that may affect the Students performance in speaking English
language?

5.What are the factors that may affect the Students performance in speaking English
language?

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

In Today's Generation clothing of a person is a substantial thing. Clothing is what you


wear such as sweater, shirt, pants, dresses, and so on. Wearing clothes that makes you
feel comfortable engages you to loook indecent and disrespectful. People's mind set is
the main reason why some usual things for us people is being look in undesirable way.
When you walk down the street No matter what you're wearing, you're not asking to be
offended. It's not your fault for being comfortable but the offender's fault of having no
control.

Caloocan’s City Ordinance 0439 prohibits individuals from not wearing any upper piece
of clothing and from wearing short shorts in public. According to reports by GMA 7’s
Mav Gonzales, the barangay has been closely monitoring and implementing the
ordinance for those who don’t wear t-shirts in public but not for those who wear short
shorts. Many netizens do not agree with this ordinance, especially now that the summer
season is here. Gabriela has also said that the government should not push for a law
that blames victims, connecting it with the growing rape culture in the Philippines. Many
have also said that these types of clothes are not the reason why rape is prevalent. It is
more on people’s mental problems and the fact that rape is currently being normalized.

The researcher's want to conduct this study because we observed that lots of individual
are experiencing being criticize regarding with their clothing.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to analyze the Analysis of the perception of senior high school students
of Metropolitan Institute of Arts and Sciences to the Caloocan Ordinance 0439.

Specifically, This study sought answers to the following questions:

1. Are you aware with the Caloocan City Ordinance 0439?

2. What is your opinion with the Caloocan City Ordinance 0439 ?

3. Does a clothing of a person is the parameter of his/her individuality?
