COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA

Communication is a procces of transferring information from one place to other. in general,


communication is done by using words that can be understand by both parties. If there is no
verbal language that can be understand by both, communication can still be done by using body
movements, showing certain attitudes, and smilling. This way is called communication with non-
verbal language. The different categories of communication include:

 Spoken or Verbal Communication: face-to-face, telephone, radio or television and other


media.
 Non-Verbal Communication: body language, gestures, how we dress or act - even our
scent.
 Written Communication: letters, e-mails, books, magazines, the Internet or via other
media.
 Visualizations: graphs and charts, maps, logos and other visualizations can communicate
messages.

if we discuss about communication. we will never get out from media, because media is an
important part of communication. Several function of media are information, entertainment,
persuasion, and education. According to Cangara (2004: 119) media can be divided into four
kinds, interpersonal media, groups media , public media, and mass media. Letter and telephone
are used for for interpersonal relation ( interpersonal media) , meeting is used for groups media,
newspapers, films, radio, and television are exaple of the mass media.

Another media is sosial media. Social media is powerful communication tool, and
social network being the most dominant we now communicate. Anyone with social media
network can connect to people around the world. In social media, we can also share our
messages, and opinion with the significantly larger audience.

Now, Youtube is the most of social media that influenced for the world. Moreover, due
to YouTube’s relatively new and unique advertising products, like TrueView, advertisers only

pay when the consumer chooses to watch the entire ad or the first 30 seconds of the ad,
whichever comes first, and because of that they often receive a large amount of added value
around each campaign. For instance, in addition to the delivery of paid impressions, advertisers
get free partial and organic views (both of which drive awareness and recall) in addition to
engagements like subscribers to their channels, also known as fans and shares. That reasons
make youtube be the most influenced for the world.
although youtube gives many advantages, we have to be careful. because not all content has a
positive effect for us us. This is an exciting time for communication. Don’t get left behind.
