Comprehensive Communication Plan


Ohio County Schools is committed to open, honest and ongoing communication with our

stakeholders. We understand that maintaining a two-way conversation with stakeholders is

essential for building relationships. This communications plan was designed to establish a

comprehensive and integrated communications process for effective communication with all

stakeholders. It aligns with the district’s goals and is incorporated in the School Improvement

Plan.

Stakeholders:
Internal Audiences: Students, Certificated Staff, Support Staff, Employees, Principals,

Administrators, and Board of Education.

External Audiences: Students, Parents, Taxpayers of the District, Senior citizens, Business

leaders, Media, Parent-Teacher Organizations, Parent Booster Organizations, Civic leaders and
organizations, Legislators, Religious leaders, Public Employees, New residents of the District,

Neighboring School Districts, Residents without children in District schools, and Prospective

residents of the District.

Through the implementation of this plan, Ohio County Schools encourages

administrators, faculty, and staff to take pride and ownership in the school, stay informed of

key issues, and work as a high-performing district whose employees respect stakeholder

feedback. Our goal is to make all stakeholders feel involved and engaged in Ohio County

Schools, exhibit community pride and trust in the school, support Ohio County Schools through

active participation, and support Ohio County Schools through monetary measures. We intend

to develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders to strengthen

support for school district. We intend to engage community in two-way communication.

Through this communication plan, Ohio County Schools will work collaboratively to

utilize a variety of media to maximize awareness and support of the district’s goals, objectives,

and programs. Ohio County Schools will maintain proactive media relations to enhance the

district’s image on local, state and national levels. Ohio County Schools will utilize the following

channels as a means of communication with stakeholders: District and School Websites,

Electronic Newsletters, School Callout Services, Schoology, Social Media Accounts: Facebook &

Twitter Communication, Mailed Newsletters, Local Media Sources, and Targeted mailing lists.

Communication will be spread through personal conversations, communication with school

administrators, communication with superintendent and district administrators, through school

forums, administrator meetings, Board of Education meetings, and communicated to the

Chamber of Commerce and the local Emergency Management System.


Ohio County Schools will communicate with parents on a regular basis through printed

communication. The district and school websites and social media accounts will be updated

regularly to provide communication to all internal and external stakeholders. Updated

communications will be provided to the community through monthly Board of Education

meetings. Local media sources will be utilized as needed to provide communication to external

stakeholders.
