Positioning the Cabinet

The following requirements must be met to ease casting the cement plinth and
installing and maintaining the equipment:
The distance between the cabinet and surrounding barriers such as wire poles
and buildings meets the requirements as shown in Figure 1-2.
The BTS3012AE can be installed against wall, rear to rear, or side by side.
− When a single BTS3012AE cabinet is installed against wall, it is
recommended to keep a 300 mm space between the rear and the wall to
facilitate the installation.
− When two BTS3012AE cabinets are installed side by side, it is recommend
to keep at least 300 mm space between two sides.
− When two BTS3012AE cabinets are installed side by side and against the
wall, the space between two sides must be more than 600 mm.
− When the BTS3012AE is installed with the left side against the wall, the
space between the left side and the wall must be more than 600 mm.
− The BTS3012AE cannot be installed in wall corners.
To minimize the solar radiation, ensure that the front door of the cabinet faces
the south or north.

Casting the Cement Plinth

Cast a cement plinth based on the dimensions shown in Figure 1-3.
The height of the cement plinth must meet the flood protection requirement in the
local area. The cement plinth should be at least 100 mm higher than the ground
surface. This helps protect the cabinet against water damage in the case of heavy rain
or flood.
Ensure that the planeness error of the upper plane is not more than 5 mm.

Positioning the Base

When installing a base, ensure that the front of the base aligns with that of the cabinet

To position the base, do as follows:

Step 1 Determine the installation position of the expansion bolts based on the installation
holes of the cabinet and the positioning dimensions specified in the project design
and construction drawing.
Step 2 Use a tape to determine the marking points.
Step 3 Mark the installation holes one by one based on the design requirements.
Step 4 Measure the distance between the installation holes to ensure accuracy.

Drilling Holes and Installing Expansion Bolts

The expansion tube must be fully buried in the ground.

The depth of the hole must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. The depth of the hole
must be a sum of the length of the expansion tube and the length of the drill bit. If
the depth is less than 52 mm or more than 60 mm, the expansion bolt cannot be
fastened.
All the holes must have the same depth. Before measuring the depth of the hole,
remove the dust inside the hole to measure the exact depth.
After drilling holes, measure the distance between the holes. If a drilled hole is of
great deviation, relocate and drill a new one.

To drill a hole and install the expansion bolt, do as follows:

Step 1 Use the φ16 drill bit and the M12 expansion bolt assembly.
Figure 1-5 shows the M12 expansion bolt assembly.

Step 2 Hold the drill stock firmly with your hands, and keep the drill bit vertical to the
ground to drill a hole.

If the floor is too hard and slippery to settle the drill bit, dig a pit with a chisel to help position the hole

Step 3 Clean the dust with a cleaner when drilling.

Fastening the Base

To fasten the base, do as follows:
Step 1 Place the base on the cement plinth.
Step 2 Align the installation holes of the base with the expansion bolt holes on the cement
plinth.
Step 3 Fasten the base on the cement plinth by using the M12x60 bolts, spring washers,
plain washers, and bevel washers, as shown in Figure 1-8.

Leveling the Base

To level the base, do as follows:
Step 1 Place a level bar on the top plane of the base in the latitudinal and longitudinal
directions, as shown in Figure 1-9.
Step 2 Check whether the leveling bubble in the level vial is in the middle.
Step 3 If the leveling bubble is not in the middle, add adjusting shims under the base, as
shown in 0.

When lifting the cabinet, ensure that all the four lugs are tightened, that the angle
between the lifting rope and the top of the cabinet is at least 60o, and that the
cabinet is level. Installers must stay away from the cabinet when lifting it and
ensure that the front door and rear door are closed.
When installing the cabinet in bad conditions (for example, in the case of strong
wind), pay extra attention to the gravity center of the cabinet to prevent the
cabinet from slanting.

To place the cabinet, do as follows:

Step 1 Use a crane to lift the cabinet, as shown in Figure 1-11.

Figure 1-11 Lifting the cabinet

Step 2 Place slowly the cabinet on the base and align the installation holes at the bottom of
the cabinet with the bolt holes on the base.

Fastening the Cabinet

This section applies to the installation of the BTS3012AE cabinet on a base or on U-bar
supports.
If the front door keeps open for a long time, use a solid object to support the lower part of
the door to prevent the deformation of the door.
Before closing the front door, lift the support bar and slide it along the rail.

To fasten the cabinet, do as follows:

Step 1 Fasten the cabinet on the base by using three M12x35 bolts, spring washers, and
plain washers, as shown in Figure 1-13.

Casting Cement Plinths

Determine the position of the wall or beam that bears the BTS3012AE. Then cast
two cement plinths on the floor or platform right above the bearing wall or the beam.
The cement plinth must be 100 mm in height, and the distance between the two
cement plinths must be at least 6 m.

Preparing U-Bar Supports

Determine the length of U-bar supports based on the distance between the cement
plinths, as shown in Figure 1-22.
