Background of the Study: While vast amount of literatures exist in the context of On-the-Job training (OJT) in tertiary level, none deals with
(Research Problem) OJT or work immersion in the context of the SHS curriculum. Moreover, since the said curriculum is newly
implemented and is on its “evaluation” phase, there are numerous issues being encountered. Thus, it is
fundamental to provide an analysis of the struggles and challenges encountered by the first batch of students who
experienced the work immersion program in order to assess whether the said program addressed the needs of
the students in terms of the competencies, work ethic, and values relevant to their respective field. (Bernardo,
Landicho, & Laguador, 2014; Mathias, 2013; Verecio, 2014; Boakye, 2014; De Chavez, et al., 2016; Yu &
Mercado, 2016)
