The following guide explains “Cross Domain Report”

2
What is Cross Domain?

Cross Domain is an Adhoc Query that contains multiple

domains in a single list report (ie. linking data into a single
table).

Your Description
Standard Domain Name (Domain 2)

Remember…

Cross Domain = Each domain will be joined together into a single query

7
Defining Query
Each step in the query now contains an area for each domain, as defined in the “General Info”
tab.

ie. if there are 2 domains selected, then “Data Sets”, “Columns” & “Filters” will contain a unique
section for each.

Domain 1

Domain 2

8
Relationships step
The Relationship step defines how the data from various modules should be joined.

In this example, Succession data is joined to Performance data via the Nominee User Id,
therefore the report will display the performance results for the Nominee.
If the join is changed to Incumbent User Id, the performance results will be for the
Incumbent.

Join Types Supported
Between Modules*:
Inner Join Left Outer Join

Module A Module B Module A Module B

Within The Same Module, Between Different Templates*:

Inner Join Left Outer Join

Template A Template B Template A Template B

*Please Note: Whilst this feature is designed to produce Left Outer Joins in a Cross Domain
report, there may be joins within the modules/domains selected that also affect the report results

Exporting Considerations
- In Adhoc, multi data set and cross domain reports must be run offline (due to performance
considerations)

- Multi Data Set Report default export is offline via a default excel template
- Multi Data Set Reports can be exported to csv for data sets for BIRT reports
