Lesson Outline Pre-lesson
 Show each flashcard quickly to the class.
 Pupils write the words.
 Pupils compare answers, including spelling, in pairs.
 Check with the class.

Lesson development
1. Activity 1
 Introduce ability can and can’t to the pupils.
  Explain the usage of can and can’t.
 Give them a few examples by doing the actions.
e.g. I can jump. I can’t fly.
 Pre-teach skip. Pupils look at the picture (SB pg 95) and read
the dialogue.
 Play the recording. Pupils listen for the answer.
 Check with the class.

2. Activity 2
 Distribute worksheet. In pairs, pupils read the sentences and
match the clouds to the correct pictures.
 Check with the class.

3. Activity 3
 Pupils look at the table.
 Demonstrate the activity on the board and then give practise in
groups.
 Pupils discuss and write the sentences.
 Discuss the answers with the class.

Post-lesson
 Mime a few actions.
 Pupils describe the actions using ability can/ can’t.
