Lesson Outline Pre-lesson
Show each flashcard quickly to the class.
Pupils write the words.
Pupils compare answers, including spelling, in pairs.
Check with the class.
Lesson development
1. Activity 1
Introduce ability can and can’t to the pupils.
Explain the usage of can and can’t.
Give them a few examples by doing the actions.
e.g. I can jump. I can’t fly.
Pre-teach skip. Pupils look at the picture (SB pg 95) and read
the dialogue.
Play the recording. Pupils listen for the answer.
Check with the class.
2. Activity 2
Distribute worksheet. In pairs, pupils read the sentences and
match the clouds to the correct pictures.
Check with the class.
3. Activity 3
Pupils look at the table.
Demonstrate the activity on the board and then give practise in
groups.
Pupils discuss and write the sentences.
Discuss the answers with the class.
Post-lesson
Mime a few actions.
Pupils describe the actions using ability can/ can’t.
