METERING PUMP CALIBRATION
WORK INSTRUCTIONS

1. PURPOSE
To document the procedures to calibrate the metering pump
2. OPERATIONS
2.1 This operation is performed on every Monday or in the event of any
variations observed. Both A and B component hoses are placed to
discharge into their respective heater drums and the pump is turned on to
run and stabilize.
2.2 Two paper buckets are marked “A” and “B” and are weighed empty and
recorded on the Calibration form.
2.3 One man then holds the flowing A and B hoses upright, clear of the drums,
in such a manner as to allow room to simultaneously slide the paper
buckets under the flow of each hose separately.
2.4 A second man then simultaneously moves both buckets under their
respective hoses catching the A component in the A bucket and the B in
the B bucket, both having received flow at the exact same time.
2.5 The buckets are held there receiving the flow of each component until such
time as the resin flow approaches the limits of the resin bucket. At this time
both buckets are simultaneously removed from the flow. Both this step and
step 2.4 above are conducted in such a manner as to have each bucket
receive flow for the same period of time.
2.6 The loaded buckets are then weighed and netted against the empty weight
and the ratio between the two components is calculated. If the resulting
ratio is inappropriate, the pump is adjusted and the calibration process is
repeated until two consecutive measurements return the proper ratio.
2.7 Between each sampling, the empty buckets must be re-weighed to
ascertain the weight of the remains coating the bucket surface.
