Introduce strategies to move the community in Lecheria toward a sustainable low waste
community
To achieve waste reduction by planning to convert the trash into revenue
Project Strategies:
Provide guideline to the community to make the zero waste community success
Provide bins for three categories: Recycle, Compost, and Trash
Volunteers for separating the waste
Educate the people on waste separation
Lecheria is a barangay in the city of Calamba, in the province of Laguna. Its population as
determined by the 2015 Census was 9, 108. This represented 2.00% of the population of Calamba.
Lecheria is situated at approximately 14.2025, 121.1677, in the island of Luzon. Elevation at these
coordinates is estimated at 7.0 meters or 23.0 feet mean sea level.
According to a study conducted in Barangay Looc, Calamba City, Laguna, the barangay has
estimated 48.73% unmanaged wastes. This study by Dalton Erick Baltazar and Ericka Seki is entitled
“Household Waste Production and Disposal Perception & Behavior of Sampled Households in Barangay
Looc, Calamba City. The study also presented that theestimated monetary value of unmanaged waste in
Barangay Looc amounts to PhP 5,839,836.
Coverage
The environmental project will be implemented in the public places such as school, market and
parks.
Methodology:
The project will comprise a seminar and a cleanup activity among the public place of the community.
The seminar will be conducted first to discuss proper waste management. On the succeeding days of the
project implementation the trainees will help with cleanup activity and will distribute usable trash cans.
