6th Grade Science

Syllabus 2019-20

Welcome to the 6th grade at Albert Hill Middle School! Middle school is a time when students go through many
unique changes, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. As your students adjust to life in middle school, we will
work to make this a successful year for them. Communication between parents and teachers is an important factor
in helping your child succeed. We look forward to building a relationship with your students and you.

Participation
Active participation in both small-group activities and whole-class discussions is required. We expect all
members of the class to be well prepared and fully engaged.

Homework/Classwork
The list of homework assignments should be written in the agenda and should be shown daily to a parent
or guardian. Homework assignments for science will be assigned on odd calendar days and are due on the
following odd calendar day. If homework is not complete on the day it is due, students may still turn it in
for partial credit. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of late assignments and missed work.
Twenty percent per day will be deducted for late assignments. Students will have three days to complete
work that was missed due to absence.

Conferences/Communication
The best way to communicate with me is by e-mail or the Remind app. We intend to respond to e-mails
within 24 hours. Please resend your e-mail if you haven’t received a response within that time period. I
am more than willing to meet with you during my planning periods if you prefer, or at a time more
convenient to you.
*Please see me or email me if your child requires special accommodations due to learning disabilities,
religious practices, physical requirements, medical needs, or any other reason.
