English 10 Persuasion Speech

Death Penalty

Death is something you can’t escape from. Once death has taken a soul, it doesn’t return

it back you on a silver platter. Then why do we let death penalty happen? We all have the reason

to live. Whether a person has done such unimaginable sins, it is not for us to judge and take the

life of someone. Death penalty is murder in the eyes of God and should never be considered

legal.

Everyday many people are being sentenced to death, it may be because they have done

something vile and unforgivable for us. Some of the worst cases are, drug-related offences, rape,

murder, or even terrorism. They know that their actions will lead to consequences, but does not

change anything at all. There is no evidence to be found that death sentence is effective in

reducing crime than a lifetime sentence in jail. Has anyone ever seen the movie, miracle in cell

no. 7? The story is about an innocent man being punished for another man’s sins. Most people

who are accused and is punished didn’t get a fair fight against the accusations that are being

thrown unto them. They may be from the lower class of the society and didn’t have enough

money to be able to hire a lawyer and plea their innocence. But they don’t have a chance but to

accept these false judgements against them. Why is it that the law only favors the wealthy man?

Isn’t the law to righteous and fair? No, it is not. There will always be people who want to control

everything and controlling the law is an advantage to them. Making death penalty is their

ultimate power, and this power will be used in political situations. You see, if someone who is on

the higher authority of the law, they can manipulate it into their desires. It would be so easy for

them to command other people to falsely accuse someone who is innocent. No. one. Would.

Question.

“The death penalty is a symptom of a culture violence, not a solution to it.” Death penalty

is the result of sin. A man is a sinner, and because of his sins, is it right for another man to also

sin in order to satisfy the law? In this day and age, we ought to know better, we are given all

kinds of knowledge and information including God’s word to know which is right or wrong. We

are all facing society with a dilemma, and we need to choose in what we want to believe in. The

right and the wrong, the good and the evil, and lastly, do want to forgive, or do we want to

persecute. Death penalty is murder in the eyes of God and should never be considered as legal. It

is the heaviest punishment among all, and it is breaking the words that God has taught to us.
