Mark 2:1-12

 Jesus visits Capernaum

 He was preaching and there was no room left
o There was this paralyzed man carried by 4 people.
o They had to dig a hole in the roof to get to Jesus
o They lowered the man on a mat
 Jesus said to the man that his sins were forgiven because of his faith
 The teachers were questioning his authenticity
 Jesus proved that he was the Son of God who had authority in all of earth
 Jesus told the man to get up

The passage Mark 2:1-12 is about Jesus visiting Capernaum. There, he was
preaching in a room to a large group of people. In the end, there was no more room
left so this paralyzed man who wanted to get in had to be carried by 4 men who dug
a hole in the roof. The men laid him on a mat where Jesus told him that his sins
were forgiven because of his faith. This caused the teachers of law to question
Jesus and his authenticity. However, Jesus proved that He was the Son of God who
had authority in all of earth. He told the paralyzed man to get up and so he did.
Everyone was amazed.

The passage relays the message that strong faith in Jesus Christ will enable us
to be forgiven from our sins. Just like the paralyzed man, we should oblige ourselves
to get closer to God, no matter the means or the obstacles. God wants us to know
through the verses that He has the authority and the power to forgive us, and to
bless us as long as we strongly believe in His omnipotence in the first place.

To apply this to our lives, we must go out of our way to establish a more
meaningful relationship to our Lord and Savior. We can do this through investing
more time to participate in Bible Study or to do our Quiet Time. Nevertheless, we
must be genuine in our efforts to do so. We should put our heart and soul into our
relationship with God because out of all the relationships we will have in our life on
earth; this would be the most important one as this is the only one we can bring to
heaven.
Mark 4:35-41

 Jesus and his disciples were on a boat (Jesus was asleep)

 There was a huge storm and the disciples woke him up
 “don’t you care if we drown?
 Jesus said, “Do you not have faith?”
 He yelled at wind and said “Quiet, be still!” and the winds died down

The passages in the Mark 4:35-41 tells the story of Jesus and His disciples on a
boat during an intense storm. The disciples were terrified for their lives; hence, they
woke up Jesus from His sleep. They asked, “Don’t you care if we drown?” Jesus
woke up and yelled at the wind. “Quiet! Be still!” and the wind died at once. Then,
Jesus said, “Do you not have faith?” The disciples were rattled and terrified at the
power of Jesus.

God reveals to us in this particular passage that we should never doubt His
power. The Lord is all-powerful and therefore, we should trust Him with our lives.
There is power in faith.

In light of this, we should never doubt or question Jesus Christ and His plans for
us especially in periods of difficulties and struggles. In actuality, He is the one who
put us through the hard times in the first place. He wants us to learn and grow as a
Christian. One’s faith must never falter for Christ always has a plan for us and He
would do everything to fulfill it.

Joshua 6:16-27

 Joshua and his people were parading around Jericho

 They shouted that the city belonged to the Lord so, they said it will be destroyed
but only Rahab and her family will be saved
 Trumpets were loud and people shouted – the walls of Jericho broke down
 They destroyed the whole city (and burned it)
 Put bronze, iron, and treasury into the house of the Lord
 They spared Rahab
 Cursed is the man who undertakes to rebuild the city

In this passage, Joshua and His people parade around the city of Jericho, shouting
the name of the Lord. They proclaimed that the city belonged to the Lord.
