Introduction

Rationale/Significance of Field Practice

Field practice or on the job training is a part for

all bachelor courses in undergraduate studies. In our part it

was 240 hours to be completed in order to comply the requirement

stated on the course curriculum. It was very important not only

for completion but most especially a great avenue for

undergraduate students to be exposed to the actual fields.

Although it will tackle on the class, but actualization is much

better than theoretical information. It also gives students the

chance to work under pressure and applied the theories and

computations they learned in schools.

In part of this, it is the time of any trainees to immerse

themselves to the different people with a lot of experiences on

how really the job works out. By this opportunity, it gives a

lot of advance knowledge on communicating socially to the people

around you and will used in dealing someone in your future

career. Likewise, you can cope up to the people especially with

different principles and belief in jobs.

Moreover, experiences build ups that will be the essential

ingredients throughout the journey. Aside from that, it was a

big opportunity to learn something new that will be additional

background knowledge and will be used to your fields chosen in

the future.
It requires a lot of effort and seriousness for the one to

undergo the field practice. It was a preparation on becoming

professional in the future. It gives the proper orientation on a

big transformation, from student to professional someday.

Since it was my first time to undergo field practice, and a

little background on what actual fields really does, I assumed

that my cooperating agency will also be hands on, ready and

willing to impart their knowledge in the field aspects that

their company pursuing.

Here are some of my objectives on my field practice.

1. To gather first-hand knowledge and background

information on the activities that will

undertake during the stay in the cooperating

agency essential on my studies,

2. To have exposure on the actual fields,

3. Build up relationships among co-trainees and

the cooperating agency.

Discussion

Activities planned and undertaken

During the 15 days of stayed in the Deloverges taro

farm we finished the activities planned.

Accomplishments, experiences, and observations

It was a great and one of the unforgettable

experiences that I can be list down as undergraduate

student. There were a lot of experiences during my field

practice in the farm. First, I learned a lot of knowledge

on what they really do on the farm especially on the taro

production as their primary products on the market. All

their cultural practices on taro will be learned by me and

my co trainees. From land preparation, down to postharvest

and market.

During our first week in the farm several activities

will undergone together with my co-trainees. But it is

mostly on cultural activities on the farm. O the second

day, we do the weeding on the tinahig cultivars beside the

kubo. Our daily routine in the farm will mostly in the

cultural activities. After which we also assisted and

experience activities that undergone in the metal works or

fabrication area. We also visited the irrigation pump which

Summary and Recommendations

On the job training is part of the course curriculum for

those undergraduate students taking bachelor’s degree. It is

wherein they were exposing to the actual fields related to their

taken fields or course in the school. Exposing them to the

actual fields is a big advantage and avenue to experience what

the actual fields really liked.
