Foreign students stranded as
tertiary provider deregistered

tudents at a private training institute have
been left in the lurch after it asked the
New Zealand Qualifications Authority to
cancel its registration.
The authority said it ended the registration
of the Kiwi Institute of Training and Education
(KITE) last Friday.
The institute has two campuses in Auckland,
one in Hamilton and a fourth in Christchurch.
Students will not be able to continue their
studies there.
About 20 students arrived at Immigration
lawyer Alastair McClymont’s office to say
the school they’d been studying at had been
deregistered.
Mr McClymont said most of the students had
finished their study and were waiting for their
qualifications to be awarded, but that was all on
hold now.
He said the institute wasn’t given the NZQA
stamp that the students had paid for “because
the teaching and the marking has been
substandard”.
It is now being investigated and students are
expected to know more on their situation next
week.
But, if NZQA find that the marking isn’t upto
scratch, the students will lose their qualification.
“They [the students] may be offered the
opportunity to do the subjects again at another
school, or the whole course again ... we don’t
know. These guys are worried, they don’t know

about $35,000 to $40,000 over the last four
years. He told RNZ the certificates he’d been
issued weren’t good enough to secure him a
work visa.
“I’m just waiting for my level 6 results, I’ve
already submitted my assignments.”
The institute has told him his results would
be out next week - if he passes, he will get his
diploma level 6 certificate. However, if he fails,
he will be refunded his fees and he will have to
enrol with another provider.
Perhaps it is this attitude of constant improvement that saw

New Indian High Commissioner meets key

stakeholders in visit to Waikato region

he New High Commissioner
of India Muktesh Pardeshi
ticked almost all the key
boxes that currently drive the New
Zealand – India bilateral relationship
by meeting with key stakeholders
of community and businesses in the
Waikato region.
Mr Pardeshi was in Hamilton
on Wednesday, August 21, as the
Chief Guest of a ceremony held
to launch the Indian IT-giant HCL
Technologies’ new delivery centre in
the country.
However, he decided to expand
the scope of his visit by connecting
with the members of Kiwi-Indian
community, prominent religious
centres, and most importantly visit
the Te Rapa manufacturing factory
of the global dairy-giant Fonterra.
Speaking to the Indian Weekender
about this day-long foray into the
country’s fastest-growing urban
centre, Mr Pardeshi expressed
excitement and satisfaction on what
he was able to achieve in his day-
long visit.
“In Hamilton, I was able to meet
with some Kiwi-Indian families
who have been in the country for
more than five-six generations. I felt
deeply connected with them,” Mr

the first Indian religious centre in
New Zealand.  
Mr Pardeshi, who was also
accompanied with Hon Consul of
India in Auckland, Waikato and
Northland region Bhav Dhillon
assured the members of the
community of all support from the
office of the Indian High Commission
and the Consulate of India.
Subsequently, Mr Pardeshi visited

However, and expectedly though,
that has not attracted significant
media-attention for Mr Goff.
In fact the early trends so
far have shown that Mr Goff’s
electoral campaign has been more
preoccupied with responding to some
of the outlandish announcements
made by challenger John Tamihere
than coming up with their plans for
Auckland’s future.
Given John Taimhere’s audacious
announcements for Auckland voters,
it will not be surprising if Mr Goff
gets compelled to deviate further
and come up with more hyperbolic
announcements than his already
ambitious goal of “tackling climate
change” as the main priority for the
next term.
Some of the over the top
attributions that the super city of
Auckland gets during the election
season, regardless of local or national
elections, paints a very contradictory
picture of this major city of the South
Pacific region.
In 2016-17 the Auckland city was
facing an existential crisis primarily
on the basis of high net immigration
rates, crumbling infrastructure with
transportation gridlocks and housing
crisis, and in roughly three years
time, the narrative is being created to
prepare Auckland for the challenges
of the future.
Have we solved any of those
existential crises that the voters were
consistently made to believe that the
city of Auckland faced three years
ago?
Our political leaders, across
both sides of the spectrum, needs
to answer that question first before
they continue to thrust upon new
narratives, and visions for the city
of Auckland on the hapless voters
during this election season.
Regardless, it seems that
Aucklanders will continue to
be served with exaggerated
announcements in this election
season.

has promised his Gujarati
audience an evening of fun and music at
the Vatt Thi Gujarati show on Saturday,

RJ Kshitij said that he was overwhelmed
with the response at Hamilton show that
he had not anticipated.
“Despite the rain, we had a full house,
and the enthusiasm of the audience in
Hamilton was amazing,” RJ Kshitij said.
“The success of our show in Hamilton
showed that even in a small city like
Hamilton, the demand for a Gujarati
show is huge,” he added.
‘Vatt Thi Gujarati’, the second concert for
New Zealand will be held at Dorothy Winston
Centre on Saturday, August 31, of which the
organisers are expecting an even bigger footfall
than Hamilton.
The concert is essentially a live music show-

At around 8:50 p.m. on Monday 12 August,
four people entered the Riccarton Liquorland,
one armed with a hammer, and stole cash,

At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday 17 August
three men, two of whom were armed with
hammers, entered the Night and Day on Ferry
Road in Woolston, and stole cigarettes.
Later that same day, at around 7:45 p.m.,
three men, one who was armed with a hammer,
entered the Woodham Road Liquor Store by
smashing their way through a locked rear-entry
door.
While there are some similarities, police has
confirmed that there is no evidence at present to
confirm the robberies are linked however police
are keeping an open mind.

offenders locked away and that’s why the
Government’s goal to reduce the prison
population poses more risks than solutions.
National stands unashamedly on the side
of victims while ensuring we safely and
effectively reduce crime and reoffending. It’s
not fair that our communities should have to
undertake the risk and burden of offenders that
are usually confined to our prison system. We
are committed to putting offenders on a better
path in life and ensuring they don’t reoffend.
That’s why when National was in Government
we made a record investment in rehabilitation
and reintegration – with a focus on education
and employment.
The Labour-led Government pledged to
reduce the prison population by 30 per cent over
15 years. The only plan they have to meet this
political target is to soften our bail, parole and
sentencing laws to make it easier for criminals
to get out of prison early, and harder for them to
be sent there in the first place. Offenders do not
just vanish into thin air. If they aren’t in prison,
they’re in our communities.
 The latest Ministry of Justice: Justice Sector
Projections show that a fall in short-term prison
sentences is matched by a rise in community
sentences. So while the prison population has

and this can mean that reoffending rates could
be higher.
   No one denies that having fewer people
going to prison is desirable. But the only viable
way to achieve this is through prevention and
grass roots intervention before people go on
a criminal path. National’s social investment
approach was implementing these early
intervention methods, but this Government
scrapped it out of pure political spite and
ideology. This Government’s approach of
fielding off offenders into communities is a
lazy non-solution to corrections in this country.

that we can maintain our kiwi way of life.

rishna Janmashtami, also known simply
as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an
annual Hindu festival that celebrates
the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.
It is observed according to Hindu luni-solar
calendar, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the
Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in Shraavana of
the lunar Hindu Calendar and Krishna Paksha
in Bhadrapad of the lunisolar Hindu Calendar,
which overlaps with August and September.
It is an important and much awaited festival in
Hinduism. Dance-drama enactments of the life
of Krishna according to the Bhagavata Purana
(such as Rasa lila or Krishna Lila), devotional
singing through the midnight when Krishna
was born, fasting (upavasa), a night vigil (ratri
jagaran), and a festival (mahotsava) on the
following day are a part of the Janmashtami
celebrations. It is celebrated not just in India
but worldwide.
Observing Janmashtami:
• Devotees, who observe fast on Janmashtami,
should have the only single meal a day before
Janmashtami. On fasting day, devotees take
Sankalpa to observe a day-long fast and to
break it on the next day when both Rohini
Nakshatra and Ashtami Tithi are over. Some
devotees break the fast when either Rohini
Nakshatra or Ashtami Tithi is over. Sankalpa
is taken after finishing morning rituals and
the day-long fasting begins with Sankalpa.
• The time to perform Krishna Puja is during
Nishita Kaal which is the midnight as per
Vedic time-keeping. Devotees perform
detailed ritualistic Puja during midnight and
it involves all sixteen steps which are part of
Shodashopachara (षोडशोपचार) Puja Vidhi.

Gender pay gap Auckland property

he gender pay gap was 9.3 percent in
the June 2019 quarter, Stats NZ said
today.
This is the third-smallest gap since the series
began in 1998.
The gender pay gap shows the difference in
median hourly earnings for men and women.
The median is the midpoint, meaning half of
workers earned above the median and half
earned below. Stats NZ uses the median value
because it is less influenced by very high or
very low earners than a mean average.
Since 2017, the gender pay gap has remained
relatively static.
“While it has remained flat since 2017, the
gender pay gap has been trending down since
the series began in 1998, when it was 16.2
percent,” labour market statistics manager
Scott Ussher said.
Women’s median hourly earnings from
salaries and wages increased $0.75 (3.2
percent) since the June 2018 quarter, to reach
$24.50 in the June 2019 quarter. For men, the
median increased $0.85 (3.3 percent) over the
same period to reach $27.00.
“When men’s hourly wages and salaries
increase at a faster rate than women’s, that leads
to an increase in the gender pay gap. This year
they increased at roughly the same rate,” Mr
Ussher said.
“The gender pay gap is a useful measure
when trying to understand differences in pay
between men and women, due to its simplicity.
But this measure is limited. It doesn’t account
for men and women doing different jobs or
working different hours. It also doesn’t account
for personal characteristics that can influence
pay, such as qualifications and age,” Mr Ussher
said.
“For example, the gender pay gap is smaller
for people aged under 30 years.”

Gender pay gap varies by
occupation
In the June 2019 quarter, the occupation
groups with the smallest gaps were clerical
and administrative workers (7.1 percent)
and labourers (9.7 percent). The occupation
groups with the largest gaps were professionals
(16.7) and technicians and trade workers (16.2
percent).
Clerical and administrative workers had the
highest proportion of employed women at 73.5
percent, while technicians and trade workers
had one of the lowest at 20.4 percent. Labourers
had the lowest median hourly wage and salary
earnings of all occupation groups.
Hourly earnings increase in most
occupation groups
Over the year ending June 2019, five
occupation groups had an increase in hourly
earnings: labourers (6.5 percent), sales workers
(5.3 percent), technicians and trades workers
(4.2 percent), community and personal service
workers (4.0 percent), and professionals (2.4
percent).
For women, median hourly earnings in their
main job rose in six occupation groups, while
for men only two increased.
Hourly earnings from wages and salaries

Over the year ending June 2019, median
hourly earnings from wages and salaries
increased $0.50 (2.0 percent) to reach $25.50.
There were increases in hourly wages and
salaries for these ethnic groups: Māori (4.3
percent), Asian (4.3 percent), Pacific peoples
(3.7 percent), and European (3.3 percent).
Weekly earnings from wages and salaries at
$1,016
Over the year ending June 2019, median
weekly earnings from wages and salaries for
women increased 4.9 percent, while for men it
was 0.9 percent.
More women working full-time contributed
to the increase in median weekly earnings. The
number of women in full-time employment

over the year.

Company and we made significant
progress on our five-year strategy.
Fletcher Building delivered a solid
financial performance for the year,
and I am pleased with the work we
carried out to stabilise and refocus
the Company.”

the prior year. Total EBIT before
significant items was $631 million,
which was within the Company’s
earnings guidance range and
compared to $50 million in the prior
year.
“In New Zealand our core
building products and distributions
businesses delivered good results,
maintaining strong market positions
and revenues despite operating in
a highly competitive environment.
The Construction division stabilised
which led to a return to profitability,
and we are on track to complete the
remaining legacy B+I projects within
the provisions we set in February
2018.
In Australia, the performance
reflected tough market conditions,
rising input costs and poor operating
disciplines in some areas. Turnaround
plans are well underway to reset
these businesses and deliver growth
in FY20.
The Company’s decision
to operate in a more focused
geographic footprint led to the sale
of international businesses Roof
Tile Group and Formica during the
year. Both sales were completed
ahead of schedule and the proceeds
received were above expectations.
The sale of Formica for NZ$1.2
billion materially strengthened the
Company’s balance sheet, we have
commenced our NZ$700-800 million
debt reduction and will distribute up
to NZ$300 million to shareholders
through an on-market share buyback.
The Company reinstated dividend
payments during FY19 with a total
dividend for the year of 23 cents
per share which was weighted to the
final payment. The final dividend of
15 cents per share will be paid to
shareholders on 19 September 2019
and will be unimputed and unfranked
for NZ and Australian taxation
purposes. The dividend reinvestment
plan will not be operative for this
dividend payment.

strategy. We have landed a leaner
organisation and end the year with
a more manageable footprint and a

has expressed his disappointment at
Australia’s failure to recognise climate

Island Leaders meeting in Tuvalu, Bainimarama
says he will along with fellow Pacific Heads
of Government, continue to push the region’s
largest carbon emitter to transition from coal to
clean energy, and continue to be a voice for all
climatevulnerable people.

Developing ties with Bhutan
P
rime Minister Narendra Modis two-
day visit to Bhutan was aimed at re-
engaging with the Himalayan neighbour
during his second term in office as part of his
‘neighbourhood first policy. The visit had added
significance since Bhutan has been changing
under its new government and India-Bhutan
ties had to be reoriented to the new winds
blowing in Bhutan.
In 2014, Thimphu had been the first foreign
capital Prime Minister Modi had visited shortly
after the NDA government was formed; it was
an indicator of the special relationship shared
between India and Bhutan.
After the 2019 general election, his first
foreign destination was to Maldives to attend
the inauguration of the new government

Mohamed Solih. On his way back to Delhi
from Maldives, Prime Minister Modi had
stopped over at Colombo at the request of the
Sri Lankan government.
Modi’s visit to Bhutan has signaled a
deepening of the bilateral ties and converting

Both sides are making efforts to diversify and
develop their ties to a wider variety of sectors
that go much beyond the traditional cooperation
in the hydropower sector.
The visit took place at a time when there is
greater international attention on Bhutan, just
after the visit of senior United States official
John Sullivan and a visit by the Chinese
ambassador to India, Luo Zhaohui earlier in the
year. Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan
was on a visit to Thimphu last week, followed
by a two-day trip to Delhi.
It was the first visit to Bhutan by a senior US
official in the past two decades as US Secretary
of State Mike Pompeo tweeted. During his
discussions in Thimphu, Secretary Sullivan
emphasized the “importance of expanding
people to people ties between the US and
Bhutan and enhancing joint efforts to combat
human trafficking.”
Though Bhutan does not have diplomatic
relations with the US or China as part of its
longstanding policy, both the US and China
have increased their informal contacts and
interaction with the Bhutanese government in
recent times.
China has made efforts to reach out
to Bhutan to establish formal diplomatic
relations; Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong
Xuanyou visited Thimphu in July 2018, the first
high level visit from China after the Doklam
impasse in 2017 when Chinese People’s
Liberation Army (PLA) and Indian army
soldiers had a 72-day face-off in the trijunction
region between China, Bhutan and India.
China has made major in-roads in South Asia
with large infrastructure projects in the past
decade, from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh,
Pakistan and Myanmar.
Beijing was keen to include Bhutan in its Belt
and Road Initiative (BRI). Though Thimphu
declined the invitation to attend the BRI
summit in April, China has attracted interest
among Bhutanese youth who favour increasing
Bhutan’s interaction with China.
As Bhutan has made its transition to
democratic governance, it has modernized and
opened out at its own pace. With three changes
in government through three elections, there
is greater political awareness and debate over
policy issues in the country.

India is Bhutan’s main development partner and
Bhutan’s hydropower export form the bedrock
of the development cooperation.

to expand its partnership from its heavy
dependence on the hydropower sector to
other areas and assist Bhutan in increasing
trade in a wide range of products. Bhutan’s
Prime Minister Lotay Tshering and Modi
jointly inaugurated the 700 MW Mangdechhu
hydropower project in the Trongsa Dzongkhag
district in central Bhutan.
They also inaugurated the Ground Earth
Station and SATCOM network linked to
ISRO’s South Asia Satellite that would
facilitate communication, public broadcasting
and disaster management in Bhutan. Scientists
from Bhutan are to travel to India where ISRO
would help them design and launch a small
Bhutanese satellite.

Punjab inks pact with UNDP to implement SDGs
T he Punjab government on Wednesday inked a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the UN Development Programme (UNDP)
for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and
Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal by UNDP Resident Representative
Shoko Noda and state government Principal Secretary Jaspal Singh.
Under the agreement, a Sustainable Development Goals Coordination
Centre (SDGCC) would be set up in the Planning Department with the
UNDP's support. The Chief Minister said that the agreement would result in
the integration of the administrative departments to ensure sustainable and
holistic development of the state.
Singh hoped that these goals would go a long way in achieving the
desired results of various citizen-centric schemes and development-oriented
programmes in a time-bound manner.

A global survey has found that

It was found that the UK had the highest average Health Star Rating of
2.83, followed by the US at 2.82 and Australia at 2.81.
Among the lowest were India with just 2.27 rating, China with 2.43 and

took off from Nome at 2
p.m. on Tuesday and after a 3 hou, 50
minute flight, she landed at Anadyr
on Wednesday.
"I lost one day of my life which
I will never get back.." she said
jokingly about the IDL crossing, but
said she would always treasure the
experience.
"The Pacific Ocean flight was
more beautiful than the Atlantic
Ocean crossing and it was also one of
my most enjoyable. I feel honoured
to achieve these records for India and
women all over," Aarohi said after
her landing at Anadyr.
An Indian commercial pilot
licence and LSA Licence holder,
Aarohi launched the world's first all-
woman team to circumnavigate the
Earth in her LSA, named "Mahi", on
July 30, 2018, along with her friend
and pilot, Keithair Misquitta.
"Mahi" is a tiny single engine
Sinus 912 aircraft, weighing less than
a Bullet motorcycle, manufactured
by Slovenia's Pipistrel, and is the first
LSA registered with the Director-
General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)
India.
Initially, Aarohi and Keithair
flew together across India's Punjab,
Rajasthan, Gujarat, Pakistan, Iran,
Turkey, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany,
France and Britain.

A resident of Borivali in northwest
Mumbai suburb, Aarohi underwent
an arduous seven-month preparatory
training schedule in India, Greenland,
Siberia, and Italy over oceans, high
altitude, snow, extreme weather
conditions, different terrains testing
her physical and mental capabilities
to undertake her circumnavigation
feat. Besides, she had to cope up with
various physical and mental exercises
to help her take on the toughest
terrains and weather conditions while
being all alone in the cockpit.
Aarohi is an ardent fan of the
legendary American aviator,
Amelia Earheart -- who became the
world's first woman to make a solo
transatlantic flight in a bigger aircraft,
87 years ago, on May 20, 1932.
Till date, Aarohi has logged in
29,500 kms in 50 legs across three
continents and 20 countries in her
small LSA.
Now, the WE! Expedition will
continue westward to fly back from
Russia to India after spreading
the message of "girl-power and
friendship" beyond boundaries, said

Nepal bans single-use plastics on Everest region
N epal will make the Everest
region a plastic-free zone by
2020 by banning single-use plastics,
a move that will curb excessive
pollution on the highest point of the
Earths surface.
The executive council of Khumbu
Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality
in Solukhumbu district reached this decision on Wednesday, the Efe news
reported. The new rule will come into effect from January 1, 2020. Nepal
is also marking the "Visit Nepal" campaign next year which aims to draw 2
million foreign visitors.
International environmentalists have expressed their concern that Nepal
has not done enough to protect the fragile environment of the world's
highest peak. Ganesh Ghimire, the Chief Administrative Officer of the
rural municipality, said that plastic items fewer than 30 microns thickness
had been banned. These items include plastic bags, straws, soda and water
bottles and most food packaging.
"Popular soft drink items like Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Mirinda and other
beverages in plastic bottles will not be allowed," he said. "But beverages in
metal cans will be allowed."
Trump likely to ending birthright citizenship

S President Donald Trump said that his administration is seriously
considering an executive order to end birthright citizenship.
"We're looking at that very seriously," Trump told reporters when leaving
the White House for the US state of Kentucky, the media reported.
"Birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land - walk over the
border, have a baby, congratulations, the baby's now a US citizen," said the
President. "It's, frankly, ridiculous."
Trump promised ending the birthright citizenship during his 2016
presidential campaign and once revived the idea last year, according to a
report of The Hill.
Earlier Wednesday, acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin
McAleenan unveiled new policies which will allow the government to detain
families crossing the US-Mexico border longer than before. If the new rule
survives court challenges, the policy change could permit authorities to
detain families through the duration of their immigration proceedings.
The US federal government has sought various ways to curb illegal and
legal immigration since Trump was sworn in January 2017.
Dhaka backs India on Kashmir, says internal matter

angladesh on Wednesday backed India on the Kashmir issue, saying
that the abrogation of special status for Jammu and Kashmir is an
internal issue of India.
As Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar concluded his three-day
visit to Dhaka, the Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Ministry, in a statement, also
called for regional peace and stability.
"Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian
government is an internal issue of India. Bangladesh has always advocated,
as a matter of principle, that maintaining regional peace and stability as well
as development should be a priority for all countries," the statement said.
Jaishankar on Tuesday handed over an invitation from Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit India in
October. India on August 5 revoked special status for Jammu and Kashmir
and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories - J&K and Ladakh - for
better governance.
Prince William, Kate may call off Pakistan visit

due to the ongoing tensions between
New Delhi and Islamabad, a media
report said on Monday.
As per reports citing a statement
released by Britain's Foreign and
Commonwealth Office, the visit of the royal couple appeared to be unlikely
due to the current turn of events in the region, The News International said
in the report.
Earlier in June, an official statement from the royal family had announced
that the couple were to visit Pakistan later this year upon the request of the
Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Prince William and Kate's trip would have been the first official visit by
a member of the British royal family to Pakistan since 2006 when Prince
Charles and Camilla had travelled to the South Asian country.
Previously, Queen Elizabeth II had visited in 1961 and 1997, and the late
Princess Diana in 1991.
Tensions have been simmering between India and Pakistan ever since
New Delhi on August 5 revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir
and divided it into two Union Territories -- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh,

2 Stalks Spring Onion Greens , chopped

2 tablespoons Britannia Cheezza , grated

• To begin making Cheesy Masala Omelette With Roasted
Vegetables Recipe first grate the Britannia cheezza and keep it
aside.
• Into a bowl break the eggs and add the coriander leaves, green
chillies and salt to taste. Whisk the egg mixture well and keep
aside.
• Add oil into a preheated pan add the garlic and onions and saute
till the onions are slightly caramelized.
• Once done stir in the baby corn and red bell peppers, sprinkle
a little salt and saute on high heat until they are roasted and
become soft.
• Once done, stir in the sweet chilli sauce and the spring onion
greens. Saute for a few seconds and turn off the heat.
• The final step is to make the Cheesy Masala Omelette.
Method
• Add oil into a preheated pan; pour the egg mixture and allow
it to cook well on both sides. Flip, when you notice the top is
almost cooked.
• Once both sides of the omelette is done, add a few tablespoons
of the roasted veggies on the omelette, sprinkle the Britannia
Cheezza and fold in half. Cook for another minute till the cheese
melts.
• 9. Once the cheese melts transfer the Cheesy Masala
Omelette With Roasted Vegetables into a serving plate and
serve hot.

of sugar and black pepper and add lemon juice over it.
• Grill it on both sides and once the fillets turn crispy,
transfer them on a plate.
• For the sauce, place a pan over medium flame and add
cloves in it. Roast them lightly and then transfer them
to a grinder jar.
• Grind them to form a coarse powdered mixture. Now,
place another pan over medium flame and add butter
along with chopped garlic to it. Saute these well until
the butter melts and then add ground cloves, remaining
sugar along with salt and black pepper powder over it.
Mix it well until the mixture turns aromatic.
• Remove the sauce from the flame, pour over the
grilled fish fillets. Garnish with chopped parsley and
rosemary. Serve it hot to enjoy!

aran Johar is often criticised for only

with perfect lives in his works, but the
filmmaker has said that he wont apologise for films
that has made, although he is willing to change his
cinematic syntax with changing times.
“I made that kind of films because I was raised in a
certain atmosphere and there was also an aspiration
that was attached to my way of thinking. I always
thought that cinema was meant to be larger-than-
life and therefore, I created characters that were
aspirational. But somewhere down the line, cinema’s
syntax changed and I have to kind of adapt to that,
and make sure that my characters are more rooted and
real, so that they don’t seem so flashy anymore.
"I am accused of affluenza but, having said
that, I won’t apologize for the films that
I have been made, although I think I
have to tweak the level affluenza in
future,” KJo said, while interacting
with the media at author Shunali
Khullar Shroff’s book launch,
