U.S. National Park: Gateway Arch, St. Lois Missouri

he words “For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the Peo-
ple” stretch across the northern entrance of our nation’s
first national park, Yellowstone.
According to the Department of Interior, the goal of the Na-
tional Park Service is, and has always been, to keep our wild
places protected and unimpaired for future generations. To
that end, more than 400 areas and 84 million acres spanning
all 50 states and several unincorporated territories of the
United States, protect America’s greatest natural treasures.
With 61 of those wilderness areas toting National Park desig-
nation, it can be tricky trying to pick which park to visit.
So, to help you determine which parks should be higher on
your bucket list, we ranked each park based on their overall
accessibility, facilities and accommodations, trails and attrac-
tions, crowds, and, of course, overall ‘wow’ factor, which we
measured by photo ops and stunning scenery.
Keep in mind, it’s almost impossible to say that one is better
than the next — there’s truly something special about each
one of our national parks.

he Warsaw Uprising began on August 1st, 1944 and was a heroic military ef-
fort taken to liberate occupied Warsaw from Nazi Germany.
The resistance lasted 63 days before being crushed by the well-equipped Nazi
German forces. The bloody battle resulted in the death of over 18,000 fighters
and nearly 200,000 civilians.
The Warsaw Uprising was the largest military operation by any resistance
movement in Europe against Nazi Germany during World War II.

tober 12th & Sunday, October 13th at Huntington State Beach in Hunt-
ington Beach, CA. Produced by SGE, this new event will feature music
from some of the biggest names in rock, reggae, ska, jam & dub, includ-
ing many who share deep-seated Southern California roots. Slightly
Stoopid will perform two sets, closing out Saturday night electric, and a

Try this: European bar spoon
As with so many other styles of bar tools, Japanese is the way to go, ac-
cording to Alonzo Freeman, a co-head bartender at The Royal in Washing-
ton, D.C. “They’re usually longer and skinnier, which makes stirring easy
for everyone—small hands, big hands, experienced, novice,” he says.
Japanese spoons have a spiral that runs the length of the handle (versus the
American, which has a spiral on about one-third of the handle), which
means it can easily be used to pour liquids for layered drinks. And Japanese
bar spoons tend to feel hefty, professional and balanced in your hand, thanks
in part to that weighted teardrop.
Stirring things up? Then you need a spoon. But not just any kind will do.
A proper bar spoon is tall enough for a cocktail glass, often with a twisted
handle that makes circular moves smooth and steady. It may be adorned
with a decorative topper, fork or disk with which to move or muddle ingre-
dients, and the bowl can be used to crack ice or measure out the appropriate
amount of bitters, syrups or liqueurs.
