SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

This study will be conducted at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Mesa,

Manila – College of Engineering, Industrial Engineering Department. The proponents of this study

will emphasize on the different factors affecting the daily expenditures of Industrial Engineering

students.

Furthermore, the target participants for this study will only be the 2th Year Industrial

Engineering students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The objective of the study

is to find out what factor/s (?) affect/s the daily expenditure of the Industrial engineering students

the most and the least. In addition, survey questionnaire will be distributed to assess and obtain the

needed information for this study.

However, the study will not include the other factors such as their socioeconomic status,

and other organizational status, as these factors are considered extraneous in this study. Also, the

study will not be concern to the students’ grades and other academic or non-academic

performances at school.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will provide a thorough explanation and discussion about the factors affecting

the daily expenditures of the second-year engineering students Batch ’18 of Polytechnic University

of the Philippines. The result of this study will also provide some insights regarding to what factor

affects the engineering students’ daily expenditures the most and the least. This study would also

be beneficiary to the following:

To the Industrial Engineering Students, the study will be beneficial to them as it will

help broaden the knowledge of the students on the different factors affecting their daily

expenditures. It could also serve as their guide on what should be prioritize among all the factors.

This research will open more possibilities and developments in view of the fact that it can be used

as a reference or recommendation for their future expenditures.

To the Industrial Engineering Department, the study will give them insights about the

expenditures of the students that may help them to be considerate and understand the struggle of

the engineering students on how they budget their allowances in all of their daily expenditures.

To the future researchers, this study would be a significant endeavor to future researchers

as they may apply the results of this research or serve as their basis for their further studies related

to the daily expenditures of an engineering student especially those who are studying in a state

university. They can make use of this study as a source of knowledge and information that will

strengthen the credibility and reliability of their studies. Thus, this research will be beneficial for

the next generation of researchers particularly for the researchers coming from the field of

engineering.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

 Industrial Engineering. A branch of engineering that deals with the design,

improvement, and installation of integrated systems.

 Expenditure. The act or process of spending of money.
