HSBC SALES & TRADING COMPETITION

Context
This year, the AIBC Committee is proud to announce our inaugural HSBC Sales &
Trading Competition, co-organised by AIBC and HSBC. This competition tests your
ability to handle real-life trading floor scenarios, from both the sell side and buy side.
Display your market making and profit maximisation abilities in this unique trading
simulation by Amplify Trading.

Your Task
You and your partner will be working together in two different scenarios. In the first
scenario, both of you will be trading as an investment bank (sell side traders),
undertaking market-making activities and securing deals with buy side firms. In the
second scenario, both of you will be trading as a hedge fund (on the buy side), to
generate profit based on market volatility, through investment banks. All teams will
have the opportunity to compete in both scenarios, one after the other.

Format
The competition will take place in-house, with details below. As the nature of the
competition is new to delegates, a tutorial will be held in the morning of the
competition, followed by two 90-minute trading sessions in which teams will rotate
between the investment bank (sell side) scenario and the hedge fund (buy side)
scenario.

Application Deadline
Please be informed that the deadline to sign up for this competition is 31 July 2017.
Applicants who have been confirmed as delegates for the AIBC 2017 will be
provided with the registration link for the competition. We will inform you if you and
your partner have been selected to participate in the competition after you have
applied for it. Please note that the competition will be held a day before the
beginning of the actual conference.

Judging Criteria
Pairs will be judged by both their net profit and loss statement, and the manner in
which they deal with their clients/brokers.

Investment Bank Scenario

Top team awards:

 Every team member will be offered a fast-track through HSBC’s selection

process for their 2018 internships or full time graduate programme roles in Hong
Kong.
 Every team member will receive an online Internship Trader Program from
Amplify Trading.
 The team will collectively receive a cash prize of HKD$2500 and a plaque from
AIBC.
 The team will receive awards and exclusive merchandise from HSBC.

1st runner-up team awards:

 Every team member will receive an online Internship Trader Program from
Amplify Trading.
 The team will collectively receive a cash prize of HKD$1500 and a plaque from
AIBC.
 The team will receive awards and exclusive merchandise from HSBC.

2nd runner-up team awards:

 The team will collectively receive a cash prize of HKD$1000 and a plaque from
AIBC
 The team will receive awards and exclusive merchandise from HSBC.
Hedge Fund Scenario

Top team awards:

Terms and Conditions

1. Teams must consist of 2 members only.
2. Only applicants who have registered and paid for AIBC 2017 are allowed to
enter this competition.
3. All decisions made by the committee and judges are final.
