Personal Statement

(Indonesian Diversity is My Inspiration)

Studying abroad is my dream since I was in high school. I am a shy and it's hard to get
along with people, but on the other hand I also like to see new places, meet new people, and
study in different places. This is one of my reasons for repairing or covering up the
shortcomings that I have as I said earlier. I also include people who like challenges, that is i
want to study abroad. That is why since I first entered high school, I always maintained
achievements in the academic field by maintaining a ranking in the top three in each semester.
In the arts, since high school my interest in art began to develop. Then I always followed
various organizational activities, such as dance studios, music art studios and choirs. So while
in high school, besides maintaining achievements in the academic field, I also began to develop
my interests and talents in the arts to realize my dream of studying abroad.
Then why is UCSI University? I always dreamed of being able to study abroad, but
what place and at the University had not occurred to me. Then I got information from a friend
that there was a scholarship to study abroad from UCSI University. Then I looked for more
detailed information about the scholarship. After knowing it, at that time I thought about getting
a scholarship from UCSI University. The reason is at UCSI University there is art and design
majors that I really want and find the University is in Malaysia, a neighboring country that is
very close to my home country, Indonesia. Since then I intend to study at UCSI University.
I was born in a simple family, we are not rich and we are not mischievous either.
Growing up in a family from an educational background (My father has a private school and
my mother is an elementary school teacher) make me give a highest place for education. And
that's why I always be on the good place in my class.
And about my educational background, my elementary school is a public elementary
school, I have a lot of friends there so smart, and that is the first time to feel the taste of
competition, and think I'm gonna like it. Because I always want to the best in my class. Junior
high school Al-Ikhlash Panganten is my next step, I studied at my father's school. At this school
I began to learn how to mingle with many people, make friends with new people, and become
leaders in organization. Because in junior high school I was able to become the vice president
of the Student Council in the second year. Then I was also active in various extracurricular
activities at the school. But in terms of academics, I feel that I don't have too much competition,
because I always get first place in each semester. The next school is a fanatical state high
school, which is one of the public schools located near my home. Indeed, after graduating from
junior high school, I did not continue my education at my father's school again and chose to go
to school elsewhere. The reason is because I think if I keep studying at my father's school, my
knowledge and insights and experience will not develop. Therefore I chose to go to school
elsewhere. In this school I got more friends from various regions in Indonesia. So that my
insight is broader. In addition, in this place I also began to actively participate in various
organizational activities in the arts. Because I want to develop my interests and talents in that
field. For example, I participated in the dance studio organization, art music studio, and choir.
In terms of academics, my achievements were not too bad even though my rival was more than
in junior high school. But I managed to keep up my achievement by entering the top three in
each semester. Then after graduating, I continued my education at State Islamic University of
Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung.
On this campus I feel that my knowledge and insights are growing. I am also active
in various organizational activities, for example being a member of the art sector in the
Department of Student Association, student choirs, and being a member of a regional
organization called the Tasikmalaya Student Association (IMT). Even so, my academic
performance is not too bad, because I can balance organizational and academic activities. This
is evident because I get a Grade Point Average above 3.00 / 4.00 each semester. On this
campus, my interest in art has also increased. And I am determined to continue my master's
education by majoring in art and design. Because I think that in the country where I live there
are many cultures and languages that are owned, and rich in regional cultures that need to
preserved. One way that I use is to deepen my interest in art. Because in my opinion culture
cannot be separated from art, and art is one aspect of culture itself.
I had a much significant experience that gave big influence to me. First is a vice leader
of OSIS in junior high school, that teaches me some skills of how to socialize and be a leader.
The second is when I joined a dance and music studio, as well as a choir in high school. The
club gave me a variety of skills that I really like about art. Third is when I joined a regional
organization (IMT) on campus. From this organization I learned how to preserve and preserve
the culture we have. Because if it's not us, who else will look after it. And fourth is when I get
fail on some competition that I face. I learned that I can get up then do the best for next time.
I believe better for us to meet each other, so you can see all of potency that I had.
