LITERACY focus standards MATH focus standard

CCSS: RL1.3 Students will describe
setting, characters, and major events in a
story using key details.
We use a “Retell Rope” to identify and describe a
story’s setting, characters, problem, major events from
the beginning, middle, end, and the solution. Students
should be able to orally tell you about these story
elements.
This week’s focus text is:
Those Shoes

Standards for Mathematical Practice #1
Make sense of problems and
persevere in solving them.
Mathematically proficient students start by explaining to
themselves the meaning of a problem and looking for entry
points to its solution. They analyze constraints and goals.
They plan a solution pathway rather than jumping into a
solution attempt.

CCSS: RF1.1a Students will recognize the

distinguishing features of a sentence.
(Capital letter, end punctuation, makes sense)

6:30-7:00 Pryor Presents #2 (or go eat hot dogs)
7:00-7:30 Onate Drum Line for all families outside
Important Information:
 Picture Day is Tuesday, 8/27.
 P.E. days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
 Back to School Night is Wednesday, 8/28.
Try to attend the Safety Talk. Students are
talking about the recent events in our area.
We want everyone to feel safe at school.
 “Super Kid” activity is due today. We post
these in the hall. Thank you for participating.
 Home and Back (yellow) folders will go home
after The BTS Bash.
 Attachments: PTO order forms for school
shirts, and a homework page due Friday.
 No School on Labor Day (Monday, 9/02).
 Parent/Teacher/Student conferences will be
mid-September. There will be sign-up forms.
