This study determined the effects of computer technology as source of information on

the performance of General Academic Strand Students. This study was conducted at Vicente
Madrigal National High School SY. 2017-2018. the study was centered on what are the effects
of the computer technology as source of information on the performance of students in terms of
assignment, project, research, report, presentation of output and recitation.

The researchers seek to know the profile of the respondents and the effects of computer
technology to the performance of students in terms of assignment, project, research, report,
presentation of output and recitation. They hypothesize that there would be no effects in using
computer technology as their source of information on the performance of General Academic
Strand Students. To know the profile of the respondents’ frequency and percentage distribution
was used and to know the effects of computer technology to the performance of students in
terms of assignment, project, research, report, presentation of output and recitation mean was
used.

Descriptive research design was used as the research design for the study, the
respondents were 40 males and 44 females, with a total of 84 respondents, and the Slovin’s
formula was used as the sampling technique. The researchers made a questionnaire checklist
for the respondents to answer. The first step the researcher did was to make a questionnaire
checklist for the respondents to answer. After that they went to their respondents to give
informed consent and to explain to them everything about their study then the researcher
distributed to their respondents the self-made questionnaire checklist, after gathering the data
from the respondents the researchers also conducted a focus group discussion. Before, the
discussion the researchers got first, five students from Calumpang and Rio to participate and
further explain and discuss information about the topic

The respondents were 40 males and 44 females, their age ranges from 15 to 18 and
above, and 46 of them came from 11- Calumpang and 44 of them came from 12- Rio as their
respondents. Based on the data gathered, General Academic Strand students often use
computer technology as source of information, they often get relevant information by using
computer technology, student often become distracted from focusing by too many websites and
social media, as a result they will consume a lot of time in using computer technology and in
doing their assignment, and they also often find related information about their given
assignments. The finding states that general academic strand students often check the internet
first to gain information about their project and it means that computer is now the primary source
of information. General Academic Strand student often use Computer technology to present
best their project. General Academic often uses computer technology to get reliable information
about their projects. General Academic Strand Students often uses computer technology to get
accurate and finish their project fast. General Academic Strand Student often uses computer
technology as primary source of information. The data gathered by the researchers that
computer helps the General Academic Strand students in doing a research activity, they often
used computer as primary source of information they can finished their research fast and easy,
and computer gives them an accurate information they need.

The data gathered states that when it comes to being confident, proud, sure,
memorizing, and finding information fast and easy for reporting the topics assigned to students,
computer technology helps them but not to the extent that they will fully feel the confidence and
proudness when reporting at the class. The findings tells that the performance of students in
terms of presentation of output, students do not have the assurance that they will get good
grades because of the contents of their output if they use computer. However, students feel
contented with the result of their output although not 100%. Some sites in the computer can be
easily access especially the sites related to the output. And lastly, students still don’t entirely
feel confident to present their output both in their teacher and classmates.

Based on the data gathered, regardless of age, gender, and section students of General
Academic Strand Students, computer have its way to them, there is no exemption they are all
subjected in using computer as their source of information. Based on the data gathered,
Computer Technology often gives information that is enough, reliable, and accurate. When they
are needed to present an output, to recite, and to report they are often feel proud, sure and
confident because some of the sites available in the computer enables them to find information
easy and fast. Computer helps student in learning and it affects them in a good way but to the
extent that they will have a 100% assurance and confidence that computer will give good
information.

Based on the conclusion the researchers recommend that there should be a


seminar on how to properly, responsibly, and maintain the right use of computer on the different
activities of students in school, regardless of age, gender, and section. There should be a
campaign that will inform students on how to use computer that will give them information on
what they will do or what precautionary measures they will follow to fully use the computer that
will benefit them 100%.
