I. Outline:
 Synthesis and Generalization
 The experiential learning
 Developing Lecturettes
 Creative Practices in Integration

II. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to realize that best-managed organizations:
 understand the difference between Synthesis and Generalization

III. Topic Discussion:
Integration: Synthesis and Generalization
The experiential learning
1. Inductive Learning begins with setting the learning objectives.
2. Processing
3. Summarize the written or verbal data
4. The results of the data analysis are now synthesis to form a generalization.
5. Integration
Synthesis - The combination of ideas to form theory or system.
Generalization - A general statement or concept obtained by inference from specific cases.
Developing Lecturettes - Develop variety of activities and situation. This requires that facilitators
read widely and be alert to relevant and interesting source of materials.
Integration - The action or process of integrating.
Creative Practices in Integration
Pfeiffer and Jones (1980) suggest several creative practices to be incorporated into this stage.
1. Consulting dyads or trials – taking turns in helping one another to apply learning, insights,
generalization to back home problem situation.
2. Goal Setting - writing applications according to such goal criteria as specificity,
performance, involvement, realism and observability.

3. Contracting – making explicit promises to each other about application
4. Subgrouping – forming interest groups to discuss specific applications of new learnings in
terms of what can be done more effectively
5. Practice Session – role playing

In training programs of more than one day duration, which necessarily consist of many kinds of
learning modules and different types of structured experiences, the program integration takes place
just before the evaluation begins. Here are some of similar steps taken in short or long programs.
1. Identifying the learning and insights
2. Determining where these learning and insights can be applied
3. Formulating complete action plans and strategies for the transfer of all relevant learnings
4. Planning ways to facilitate the gentle re-entry of the participants
IV. Conclusions
We’re able to know the differences of synthesis and generalization and also the meaning
of integration.
