Marks of a Healthy Christian Leader

- Many Churches focus on numbers without realizing that Church growth is a by-product of Church
HEALTH.
- A healthy church is a by-product of HEALTHY LEADERS.

The Importance of BEING vs DOING .

- God is more concerned with WHO you are than WHAT you do for Him.
- Who you really are will be revealed under PRESSURE.

“Who you are will ultimately determine what you do. Beware of laziness and complacency”

Read John 15:5. How does that describe our relationship with God?

6Hs of a Healthy Christian Leader

1. HOLY SPIRIT- FILLED

“I firmly believe that the moment our hearts are emptied of selfishness and ambition and self-seeking and
everything that is contrary to God’s law, the Holy Spirit will come and fill every corner of our hearts…”

- The Spirit-filled life is the NORMAL Christian life.


- The Christian life is not lived by WILLPOWER. It is a life of EMPOWERMENT by the Holy Spirit through
SURRENDER.

Read Acts 1:8. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in us?

Read Acts 6:3,5 and Acts 11:24. What character trait is present among the leaders?

Read Ephesians 5:18. What does God command us to do? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit right now?

Read Galatians 5:16. What is God’s promise to us when we walk in the Spirit?

2. HOLY

“Holiness is the everyday business of every Christian. It evidences in the decisions we make and the things we
do, hour by hour, day by day.”

Read 2 Timothy 2:19-20, 21-22. What kind of vessel are you? Is there anything in your life that is not pleasing
to the Lord?
“Reserved to do anything which I would be afraid to do if it were the last hours of my life.”

3. HUMBLE

“Humility is a most strange thing. The moment that you think you have acquired it is just the moment you have
lost it.”

Read 1 Peter 5:5-6. What do the passages say about proud and humble people?

- PROUD people don’t PRAY.

Tips for humility:

a. LISTEN better than you SPEAK.


b. Stay away from things that feed your EGO. Move from POSITIONAL leadership to INFLUENTIAL
leadership.
c. Submit to the ACCOUNTABILITY of a MENTOR. Choose to OBEY. If not, you may become a GOD to
yourself
d. Don’t SHY AWAY from responsibilities/jobs you don’t ENJOY.
e. Serve more in SECRET more than in PUBLIC.
f. Be the first to HUMBLE yourself in a CONFLICT and to REPENT from your own MISTAKES.

4. HARMONIOUS

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love
one another. By this all men will know that you are my disicples, If you have love for one another.”
- Jesus Christ (John 13:34-35) –

Read 1 Corinthians 1:10. What should characterize the Church as the body of Christ?
(Also read Titus 3:10-11)

Read Philippians 4:2-3 and Ephesians 4:2-3. What is the instruction found in these verses?

Regarding differences in faith and specific practices:

ESSENTIALS – UNITY
NON-ESSENTIALS – LIBERTY
In EVERYTHING – CHARITY

“Division is the work of the Devil.”

5. HAPPY
“The Christian owes it to the world to be supernaturally joyful”

6. HEART-WORKING

Read 1 Corinthians 10:31. In What areas of your life should you be excellent? What results from your
excellence?
