RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE


IECEP CAVITE – MAXIM INTEGRATED – GLOBE TELECOMMS
REGIONAL ELIMINATION INTER-SCHOLASTIC QUIZ SHOW 2019

A. VENUE AND DATE OF THE QUIZ

The Inter-Scholastic Quiz Show will be held on September 15, 2019, 1:00 pm at Maxim Philippines Operating Corp, Gateway
Business Park, Javalera, Gen. Trias, Cavite.

B. ELIGIBILITYOFPARTICIPANTS

1. Only schools with IECEP recognized Student Chapters are allowed to join the Inter-Scholastic Quiz Show.

2. Only one(1) team is allowed to represent a school/college/university.

3. The members of the team shall be IECEP members in good standing.

4. A team shall be composed of six (6) members. However, only three(3) members shall participate in any round during the
Inter-Scholastic Quiz Show. Substitutions are allowed after each round.

5. Each member of the team:


a) Should be enrolled in BSECE program and registered IECEP student member in the school/college/university being
represented.
b) Shall not have completed or graduated in any degree program.

C. CONDUCT OF THE INTER-SCHOLASTIC QUIZSHOW

1. The scope of the quiz show is distributed as follows:

2. The twenty four (24) questions to be asked during the three (3 )rounds will be combinations of objective type and problem-
solving, distributed as follows,

3. Each objective-type question will be worth five (5) points and will be answered within a maximum of ten (10) seconds.
Each easy round problem-solving question will be worth ten (10) points and will be answered within a maximum of one (1)
minute. Each moderate round problem-solving question will be worth fifteen (15) points and will be answered within a
maximum of two (2) minutes. Each difficult round problem-solving question will be worth fifteen (15) points and will be
answered within a maximum of three (3) minutes.

D. DEFAULTING

1. On the day of the Quiz show, all registered participating teams shall be on the venue.
2. A fifteen (15) minutes grace period will be enforced after which no-show teams will be automatically disqualified.

E. MANNER OF ANSWERING

1. Each team will be provided with answer sheets and papers that will be used for their computations.

A. The final answers should be written on the Official Answer Sheet and should be enclosed by a circle or a rectangle.
B. If there are two answers separated by OR, the first answer shall be considered the final answer.
C. Answers that are not enclosed by a circle or a rectangle will not be considered.
D. In case the contestants need to change their answers, they shall cross out the previous answers and rewrite the final
answers, clearly enclosed by a circle or a rectangle.
E. Watchers will be assigned to ensure that no alterations are made on the Official Answer
Sheets at the end of the designated time limit.

2. Each question will be read twice.

3. Time Limit starts upon cue by the Quiz master, after the question has been read twice.

4. At the end of the time limit, one (1) member of the Team stands holding their answer sheet with a raised arm.

A. The Quiz master will announce the correct answer and will then ask the teams with the correct answer to ‘remain’
standing while the rest of the teams should sit (meaning they have incorrectly answered the question).
B. Watchers will then get the correct answer sheets and submit them to the Quizmaster, who shall read out the answer(s)
while projecting on the screen.
C. Items A and B above may be modified depending upon the discretion of the Panel of Judges.

5. Wrong spelling in the written answers will constitute a wrong answer.

6. In case of mathematical answers, a wrong unit will make the answer wrong.

A. Mathematical questions with numerical answers will specify the required degree of accuracy or number of decimal places
(up to 2 decimal places), and failure to comply with the same will automatically render the answers unacceptable.
B. Further questions on accuracy of numerical answers will be referred to the Board of Judges.

7. No deductions will be made for wrong answers or non-answering of questions.

8. A maximum of three (3) non-programmable calculators will be allowed for each team. Mathematical tables and conditional
scratch papers will be provided.

9. No other materials,(e.g.,reference books, notebooks,etc.),will be allowed during the contest.

10. In case of ties, either an objective type or problem-solving question will be randomly selected by the Panel of Judges from
pool of questions until the tie is broken.

F. CLARIFICATIONS
1. Only the official participating members of each team actually on stage may raise questions or clarifications on the answers
already given.

2. Clarification regarding the questions and answers should be directed to the panel of udges only after the allotted time for the
given questions.

3. All questions shall be raised in proper decorum (goodmanners). Any act by the participants derogatory to the Inter-Scholastic
Quiz Show Committee,Board of Judges and to the IECEP Officers shall be dealt /meted with corresponding penalty to be
decided and imposed by IECEP including but not limited to possible disqualification from the Inter-Scholastic Quiz Show
and suspension in any future quiz shows organized by IECEP.

4. THE DECISION OF THE PANEL OF JUDGES SHALL BE FINAL and IRREVOCABLE.

G. PANEL OF JUDGES
.
1. The panel of judges consist of a chair person and two members.
2. The judge is a disinterested party to any of the participants.

H. OTHERS

Travel, accommodations and other expenses shall be shouldered by the sending school/college/university.

MATH WIZARDS 2019

A. VENUE AND DATE OF THE QUIZ

The Math Wizards 2019 will be held on September 15, 2017, 9:00 am at Maxim Philippines Operating Corp, Gateway Business
Park, Javalera, Gen. Trias, Cavite.

B. ELIGIBILITYOFPARTICIPANTS

1. Only schools with IECEP recognized Student Chapters are allowed to join the Math Wizards 2019.

2. Only one(1) team is allowed to represent a school/college/university.

3. The members of the team shall be IECEP members in good standing.

4. A team shall be composed of three (3) members. All of them shall participate in all the rounds during the Math wizards 2019.

5. Each member of the team:


a) Should be a first year or second year student enrolled in BSECE program and registered IECEP student member in
the school/college/university being represented.
b) Shall not have completed or graduated in any degree program.
