Problem and its Background
Introduction
This study is about the difficulties learners understanding in English of

grade 11 HUMSS students in Bestlink college of the Philippines because of some

students in grade 11 HUMSS are not totally fluent in English teaching strategies of

teachers.as the part of requirement students obliged to understand English. health

issues like hearing and vision problem, it can make it even harder to understand what’s

going on in the discussion. This includes lack of sleep, stress, and culture shock.

Researcher want to be an instrument to co- student who are experience difficulties in

Understanding English. As a grade 12 students researcher experience how does

English be difficult.

Background of the study

Remember that when you're having a conversation, you're only talking

about 50% the time – the other 50% is spent listening to the other person speak. If you

don't understand what the other person is saying, it's difficult to reply. and if the language

he or she using is English is more than difficult to understand.

Compared with reading, writing and listening, there has been a paucity

of empirical data documenting learners' experiences of speaking English as a second

language (ESL) or English as a foreign language (EFL) in different learning contexts in

spite of the fact that developing the ability to speak in a second or foreign language is

widely considered a daunting task for most language learners. This paper reports on the
findings of a questionnaire survey of the English speaking difficulties experienced by two

Chinese populations: one group of university students from mainland China and one

group of university students from Hong Kong. Drawing on various theoretical perspectives,

the students' perceived difficulties are analysed in relation to linguistic deficiency, oral

language processes, conversational skills and academic speaking conventions, affective

influence as well as affordance of opportunities to use English for spoken communication

in the students' learning contexts. Important implications of the results for pedagogical

practices that foster development of ESL or EFL speaking skills are discussed.

Statement of the problem


This study aims to determine the difficulties of learners understanding in
English of grade 11 HUMSS students.

This study also sought to answer the following questions:

1. what is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of;

1.1 Age

1.2 Gender

1.3 Status

2. what are the difficulties of learners understanding in English in terms of;

1.1 Oral communication

1.2 Spelling

1.3 English grammar

1.4 Recitation

3. How does the difficulties affects the understanding in English of grade 11


HUMSS students?

4. what are the action plan can be proposed to develop learners understanding in

English?

Scope and delimination


This study will be limited to the difficulties of learners understanding in

English of grade 11 HUMSS students in bestlink college of the Philippines.

It is limit to the assessment made up of the issue encountered by the senior

High school in terms of difficulties learners understand English. In the aspect

Of oral communication, spelling, English grammar and recitation.

The respondents of this study will be so grade 11 in M,W,F and so


Grade 11 T,TH,S in bestlink college of the Philippines during the school year

2019-2020.

Significance of the study

this study will be beneficial to the following groups of person.

Students. this study will help students gain an idea of how to understand english

Teachers. this study will help to teachers to come up with an idea of how

Teachers can teach English well and easily.

Administrator. So that administrator can come up with a solution to facilitate

Students to understand English.

Future researcher. to come up with an ideas if they would like to study the

Difficulties to understand English in grade 1 HUMSS students.


Definition of terms

Administrator

A person responsible for running a business, organization, etc

Difficulties

The state or condition of being difficult.

Learners

A person who is learning a subject or skill.

Spelling

The process or activity of writing or naming the letters of a word.
