1 Gigabit Ethernet SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) uplinks or two fixed 10 Gigabit

Application Scenarios

DM NVX encoders/decoders. 4K60 HDMI® video from content servers, satellite receivers,
cable boxes, and Blu-ray™ players can be displayed throughout a residence, conference
room, or boardroom. The network design enables flat Layer 2 communication.
The following illustrations provide two application scenarios. In the first scenario shown
on the following page, the key DigitalMedia™ products consist of the following:

• Using the RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter cable included with the switch, connect
your computer to the RJ-45 console port of the switch.
• Using a USB Type A to USB mini-Type B cable, connect the USB Type A port

of the computer to the USB mini-Type B console port of the switch.

3. Configure the terminal emulation software by setting the following parameters:
• Parity: None
• Data Bits: 8 IN
• Stop Bit: 1
4. When the “Press RETURN to get started” message appears, press Enter.

5. If a username and password prompt appears, enter the username and password.
The default username and password are both cisco.

2. Load the firmware from flash memory to the operating system (OS) of
the switch.

Load the Firmware to Flash Memory
Various methods may be used to load the firmware to flash memory of the switch.

This section provides instructions that require the use of a USB flash drive.
1. Download the latest firmware file (*.bin) from the Cisco Support page
(https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/index.html) to your computer.
2. Insert an empty USB flash drive into the USB port of your computer.

3. Copy the firmware file from your computer to the USB flash drive.
4. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB Type A port on the switch. The Command
Line Interface (CLI) displays the following:

5. Press Enter.

If a file with the same name exists, a warning appears and prompts you to
confirm that you wish to overwrite the file. Press Enter to overwrite the file.
Continue with the next section to load the firmware to the operating system of
the switch.

Assign an IP Address to a VLAN
All VLANs must have either a DHCP or static IP address. To assign an IP address to
a VLAN:

NOTE: VLAN 1 is created by default. Best practice dictates that a VLAN other than
VLAN 1 be used.

Configure IGMP Snooping

Configure IGMP snooping as follows:

Enable IGMP Snooping on All VLANs IN
To ensure that multicast traffic does not flood undesired interfaces, enable IGMP
snooping on all VLANs including VLAN 1.

2. Each time the CLI pauses, press the space bar in order for the entire contents of
the configuration to be displayed on the CLI.

When the process is complete, the CLI displays the Switch# prompt.
3. Copy the contents of the configuration and save it as a .txt file on your computer.
• For the VLAN associated with a DM NVX device, the IGMP version of the
switch matches the IGMP version of the DM NVX device.

• Immediate leave is enabled.

x is the VLAN number. Verify the parameter for all VLANs in the system.
• Interfaces are connected to the correct VLAN. In the previous sample screen,
interfaces are connected to VLAN 1 (default VLAN) and, as a result, no
information is displayed.
