2. Introduction The Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) of


Vocationalisation of Higher Secondary
Education was revised and launched in 2012 as
Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) of
Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher
Secondary Education under the National
Vocational Education Qualification Framework
(NVEQF), which was subsumed in National Skill
Qualification Framework (NSQF) in 2013.

The NSQF is organized as a series of levels of


“learning outcomes”, arranged in ascending
order from 1 to 10 levels. To converge the
various schemes of School Education, an
integrated scheme of education, known as
Samagra Shiksha (Holistic Education) has been
launched by Government of India in 2018.

A vocational subject is being offered along with


the general education subjects from Classes IX
to XII in States/UTs under the Scheme of

Vocationalisation of Secondary & Higher
Secondary Education (CSS of VS & HSE) of
Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD), Government of India. The scheme also
includes vocationalisation of education from
Classes 6 to 8.

3. About the Sector Also called, ‘Other Home Appliance Repair


Technician’, this is an after sales service job for
installing and providing support to the water
purifier and other home appliances as
mixer/grinder buyers.
This unit/ task covers the following:
 Interact with the customer prior to visit
 Interact with customer at their premises
 Suggest possible solutions to customer
 Achieve productivity and quality as per
company’s norms
The various career opportunities available in
the sector include the following:
 Field technician for electronic and
electrical appliance in government and
private organization
 Technician in industry
 Service engineer

4. Job Description The individual at work installs the appliance


and interacts with customers to diagnose the
problem and possible causes. Once the
problem and causes have been identified, the
individual rectifies minor problems, replaces
faulty modules for failed parts, or recommends
factory repairs for bigger faults.

5. About the Vocational The vocational course for the job role of

Course offered in Assistant Beauty Therapist is offered in Class IX
Schools and X under the Scheme of Vocationalisation of
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

The vocational course is offered in secondary


and higher secondary schools of States/Union
Territories.

In this course a student will learn to:

9. Apprenticeship training The Apprentices Act, 1961 was enacted with
the objective of regulating the programme of
training of apprentices in the industry by
utilizing the facilities available therein for
imparting on-the-job training. The Act makes it
obligatory for employers in specified industries
to engage apprentices in designated trades to
impart Apprenticeship Training on the job in
industry to school leavers and person having
National Trade Certificate (ITI passouts) issued
by National Council for Vocational Education
and Training (NCVET) to develop skilled
manpower for the industry. There are four
categories of apprentices namely; trade
apprentice, graduate, technician and technician
(vocational) apprentices.

Qualifications and period of apprenticeship
training of trade apprentices vary from trade to
trade. The apprenticeship training for trade
apprentices consists of basic training followed
by practical training. At the end of the training,
the apprentices are required to appear in a
trade test conducted by NCVT and those
successful in the trade tests are awarded the
National Apprenticeship Certificate.
