Learning Competency: Create arts and crafts that can be locally assembled with
local materials, guided by local traditional techniques.
(A8PR – IIIc -e -1)

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
A. identify the different types of arts and crafts of West Asia;
B. appreciate the importance of arts and crafts of West Asia through
creating candle sculpture; and
C. match the different artworks of West Asia and create candle sculpture
that characterized the arts and crafts of west asia.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


A. Topic: The Arts and Crafts of West Asia
B. References: Anido,B.R. et al (2013). Music and arts of asia– grade 8
learner’s module. Pasig, City. Pp.314-315. Book Media
Press Inc.
C. Materials: Visual Aid, book, pictures, candle, pencil, nail pusher. news
paper

III. PROCEDURE:

A. Preliminary Activities:
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Classroom Management
d. Attendance
e. Energizer
f. Recall/Review

B. Lesson Proper:

a. Activity: “COME and PICK ME”


 The teacher will divide the class into five (5) groups. Each
group must form a straight line. Every member should have
an assigned number through counting.
 There will be pictures like sculpture, clay pot, etc. that placed
at the center.
 The teacher will post the following words;
o Bonifacio Monument
o Pottery
o Embroidery (barong)
o Handicrafts (basket)

 If the teacher says num. two (2), student (2) in both groups
will run from the line to find the picture of the particular words
that posted by the teacher on the board and raise it for
checking.

b. Analysis:

THE ARTS AND CRAFTS OF WEST ASIA


West Asian - art is rich in cultural heritage, and this is
clearly evident in the variety and quality of regional arts
and crafts.
Typical artistic forms from the region include:
o Embroidery - is the handicraft of decorating fabric or
other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn.
o Wood carving - is a form of woodworking by means of a
cutting tool (knife) in one hand or a chisel by two hands.
o Ceramics – made of clay that heated by a high
temperature so that it becomes hard object.
o Calligraphy - is a visual art related to writing and
penmanship .It is the design and execution of lettering
with a broad tip instrument, brush, or other writing
instruments.
o Glassblowing - is a glass forming technique that
involves inflating molten glass into a bubble, with the aid
of a blowpipe.
o Metalworking - is the process of working with metals to
create individual parts, assemblies, or large-scale
structures.
o Inlay - is commonly used in production of decorative
furniture.

d. Application:

o The teacher will group the students into five (5). Every group
should create a candle sculpture that characterized the arts
and crafts of West Asia.
o Each group must select one (1) representative to explain
their finish product (candle sculpture) in front of the class.
