Affidavit of Probable Cause
ETHAN MITCHELL HENSON
Date of Birth: 07/12/1999
Arrestee
On 08/26/2019 23:09 the defendant was arrested for the offense(s) of:
I believe there is probable cause to charge the defendant with these charges because:
I observed the vehicle make 2 signal violations while traveling eastbound on I-84. I initiated a traffic stop and
made contact with the driver. He was identified by his Florida driver license as Ethan Henson. He stated the
vehicle was rented by a friend and did not have any rental information with him. I asked him to step out of the
vehicle and back to sit in my patrol car, he agreed. It should be noted the at the same time Trooper Gallegos
was stopping a second vehicle we believed was traveling with Henson. While I was filling out the written
warning and performing checks, I spoke with him about the trip and who he was with. He admitted to traveling
with the vehicle Trooper Gallegos stopped. Trooper Gallegos and I were communicating during this time.
Henson stated he was only in Idaho and no where else. He stated he was only there for 1 or 2 days. He stated
the other vehicle was already up there and the friend driving that had gone to Oregon. He stated he had gone
to Idaho for a funeral. Trp Gallegos driver stated they had been together for a week and a half and didn't
mention anything about Oregon. Eventually I got the rental agreement from Henson's friend. He was not on the
rental agreement and could not give me the name of the person that rented it. During this time he did admit to
having a marijuana card and he had a prior conviction. I was able to contact his sister, Allie, and he stated there
was no funeral and no one had died. At this point I was confident he was involved in criminal activity and that
he was allowed to have the vehicle. I requested a tow truck respond to the scene and towed the vehicle on a
hold for owner basis. During the inventory of the vehicle, I located 3 bundles of raw marijuana, totally
approximately 18 pounds. He was then placed under arrest.
I declare under penalty of perjury and under the laws of the State of Utah that the foregoing is true and correct.
