Executive Summary

This report summarizes the results of a stress analysis of the pipe of Compressor Station arrangement for
the Altamira Compressor Facility.

Since the accuracy of the input parameters has a significant effect on stress analysis results, they have
been extracted from the Caesar II and listed in this document for accuracy verification.

Computed stresses meet the stress requirements of ASME B 313.8 Gas Transmission and Distribution
Piping Systems and TES-STRS-COMP REV. 1 Stress Analysis for Compresor Station at the analyzed
model for the pipe of Compressor Station arrangement for the Altamira Compressor Facility project.

It has been shown that Compressor flange loads are below allowable defined by General Electric (GE).

ALTAMIRA COMPRESSOR FACILITY

1. Introduction
This Stress Analysis Report was prepared in México City for the design of the Altamira Compressor
Facility.

1.1 Purpose
The Purpose of this report is to provide the results of a stress analysis performed on a model of the
Altamira Compressor Facility and to provide recommendations based on the results.

1.2 Project Description

Altamira Compressor Facility


The compressor station is a Greenfield (new) compressor station comprising of three (3+0) new turbo-
compressor packages and auxiliary equipment. The compressor station will be located near Altamira in
the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. This station is co-located with the Altamira V Meter Station. The
compressor station will compress gas for the Sur de Texas Offshore Pipeline based on the requirements
of the ITB and as described in the hydraulic study in Section B.2.15.c of the Company’s proposal. The
compressor station will be uni-directional.
The station will receive gas from the NPS42 pipe at the Altamira location, in the state of Tamaulipas. The
inlet of the compressor station includes an NPS 42 slam shut valve to provide overpressure protection.
The valve will be the MAOP specification break between 20685 kPag (3000psig) for the upstream
pipeline and 15306 kPag (2220 psig) for the compressor station and downstream pipeline. The station will
include an NPS 42 bi-directional scrapper trap with an MAOP of 15306 kPag (2220 psig) for the upstream
pipeline. The facility will have an MAOP of 15306 kPag (2220 psig) and will include an NPS 42 bi-
directional scrapper trap with an MAOP of 15306 kPag (2220psig) for the downstream pipeline. The
Company’s system design shall evaluate the pressure drop within the station to ensure that the maximum
pipeline delivery pressures are available. The required in-service date is October 31st, 2018.

The location of the land for the Compressor Station and co-located Meter Station at Altamira purchased
by the Company is shown by the polygon in the image below. Google map to be updated. (still not

3 Methodology and Model Details


3.1 Stress Analysis Modeling
Piping stress modelling and analysis shall be conducted for all new compressor station and if any
piping modifications are required to the suction, discharge or recycle piping within the compressor
station yard.

Caesar II calculations show results against 5 times NEMA SM23 or 3.0 Times the value

3.4 Pipe Support Modeling


Pipe Support choices are one of the most important considerations in stress analysis. They
should provide adequate support and assist in preventing vibrations from equipment, such as
compressors. There were eleven (11) different support types and they were used in the Caesar
II model and are shown in Table 9. Supports are steel linned, saddle type, with friction factor of
0.4 for neoprene and 0.1 for Teflon. All of the pipe supports was designed as rigids.
