Las Damas Romanas

Artist: Juan Luna y Novicio (October 1857-December 1899) better known as Juan Luna
was a Filipino painter, sculptor and a political activist of the Philippine Revolution during
the late 19th century. He became one of the first recognized Philippine artists.

Description and meaning: It depicted a domestic scene in ancient Roman life,


portraying two women lying on the steps of a house. The hand of one woman was
holding the reins of two pet dogs or hunting dogs in order to prevent them from scaring
away some doves. The doves symbolized divinity.

Reason of choosing the painting: The reason why I chose this painting is because it
is the painting that is easy to browse and found and it is also look interesting because of
doves.

Artist: Benedicto Cabrera (1942- Present) Born April 10, 1942, better known as
BENCAB is a Filipino painter and was awarded National Artist of the Philippines for
Visual Arts (Painting) in 2006. He has been noted as arguably the best-selling painter of
his generation of Filipino artists.

Description and meaning: I've seen girl in the painting with blue background. She
wearing like a superhero costume and her hair is like a model and her face it has a
strong personality.

Reason of choosing the painting: The reason why I choose this painting because this
painting its look inspirational in a real life and beautiful.
FRUIT GATHERER
Artist: Fernando Amorsolo (1892-1972) was one of the most important artists in the history of
painting in the Philippines. Amorsolo was a portraitist and painter of rural Philippines
landscapes. He is popularly known for his craftsmanship and mastery in the use of light.

Painting theme used: Fruit Gatherer, oil on board, a specimen of Amorsolo's conception of an
ideal Filipina beauty.

Description and meaning: The main meaning of the Fruit Gatherer painted by Fernando
Amorsolo is to be sure you recognize and appreciated the small things. It represents a hard
worker who is often not appreciated.

Reason of choosing the painting: Except it was made 50 years ago, it is also represent the
Filipino's people who work hard and Filipina's beauty. As a Filipino I am the one who describe in
the painting because Fernando Amorsolo did this painting to see how well us as a Filipino, how
hardworking of us. This painting is best to describe the Filipino. We should appreciated, love
and remember the works of every Filipino painters because they are the best.
