 Module 1 Learning Activity 1: It’s all about personal letter

In this learning activity, I’ve learned about social functions (purpose of letters), generic structure,
lexico-grammatical features of personal letters, tones of letters and how to arrange personal letters.
Strength: I do understand about how to write a good personal letters, including the generic
structure, social function, and lexico-grammar feature, because I teach this material on
the 2nd grade of Vocational High School.
- Clear explanation, interesting videos
Weaknesses: In the beginning, I only knew formal and informal letter, but after learning this
material further, that there are several tones of letters beside those two. I need learn
more how to write friendly letter even for someone that I’ve never known before.
- The assignment on this learning activity doesn’t provide us to write our own personal
letters.

 Module 1 Learning Activity 2: Announcement

In this learning activity, I learn everything about written and spoken announcement. The social
function of each announcement, generic structure, lexico-grammatical features. The interesting
part of this activity is watching the spoken announcements given and it makes me want to adapt
it in my class.

 Strength: I know that we have to give an interesting tittle for the announcement so the reader
will be attracted to read it, make it short, clear and I know how to make an
announcement
- Having interesting videos, giving me an idea to apply it at my class
Weaknesses: It takes time to get an eye-catchy an ear-catchy phrase as the tittle of the
announcement, but your hard work will be paid off.
- Some of the tasks don’t have clear instruction, so I become confuse in doing the task

 Module 1 Learning Activity 3: Analytical Exposition

In this activity, I learn how to make a good analytical exposition. You have to provide your
thesis (introducing topic and outlining the main arguments), argument (restating main
argument in thesis, do the elaboration), and the last is reiteration (restating the writer’s
position). Besides that, I also learn the lexico-grammatical features.
Strength: I like reading, making mind map, developing mind map
- Clear and simple explanation,
Weaknesses: At first I’m not too fond of writing analytical exposition, but the video provided
is very interesting, it provides the tips how to write a good analytical exposition.
- In comparing two texts or more we have to scroll so of course it takes time.

 Module 1 Learning Activity 4: Hortatory Exposition

In this activity, I learn what the hortatory exposition is. I also learn the social function, generic
structure, lexico-grammatical features, and also how to write hortatory exposition. We have to
give our recommendation as the closing paragraph.
Strength: I like reading, making mind map, developing mind map, trying to get an eye-catchy
phrase as the tittle.
- Clear explanations, interesting tips on how to differentiate hortatory exposition from
others.
Weaknesses: I’m not too fond to write an exposition text, but I have to work on it so I can
write a good hortatory exposition.
- In comparing two long texts or more, the reader should scroll up and down to answer the
questions and study the text.

 Opinion
In my opinion, I think this module has covered the main points of each materials. It has clear
explanation, and the videos provided are interesting.
For assignment part, there are several unclear instructions (Task1 learning activity 1), and
missing the attachment videos (Task 1, task 2 learning activity 2), so it’s a little bit confused
me.
