Bert and his dog Boomer were playing catch in their front yard. Boomer always caught the ball no matter how
high Bert threw it. Every time Bert threw the ball, Boomer wagged his tail and barked.
Just then, Bert threw the ball harder than before. It went past the front yard and into the road. Boomer
chased the ball. Bert yelled for Boomer to stop, but Boomer did not listen.
Bert ran after Boomer and saw a car running down the road, the car driver
saw Bert and Boomer and slammed on the brakes.
Boomer was lying on the road. Bert and the driver ran over to Boomer.
When Boomer saw Bert, it got up, barked and wagged its tail. The driver
heaved a big sigh, and then Bert grabbed Boomer by the collar and dragged
him into the house. He yelled at him for running into the street.
