2:45 PM Arrive at San Agustin Church San Agustin Church • San Agustin Church is the only church in Manila to
survive WWII.
• Foo dogs (the Chinese guard lions at the entrance
of the church) were built because Chinese
labourers who worked on the church put them
there. This is also the reason why Chinese
influences can be seen in and around the church.
• For art and historical artefacts, be sure to pass by
the San Agustin Museum, located inside the
church (entrance fee: 200php).

lifestyles of well-off Filipino families during the
Spanish colonisation.

4:20 PM Travel to EDSA Shangri-la Casa Manila —> EDSA • Inform Kuya Ronnie to pick you up at the entrance
Shang of San Agustin Church.
• Alternatively, you may walk back to the Intramural
parking, but it may be easier to just text/call him
and let him know where you are. He is very familiar
with the place.

[Optional trip to Binondo.] • Binondo is the oldest chinatown in the world.


• Continue tour for authentic Chinese food (some
say even better than actual food from China), and
the merging of Chinese and Filipino culture to
create a wholly unique & important facet of the
Filipino identity.

4:30 PM Arrive at Binondo Binondo • Binondo is technically just one district, but its
influence has spread to Quiapo, Santa Cruz and
San Nicolas.

recommended restaurants to stop by for Filipino-

Dong Bei Dumplings (at Yuchengco St.)

Po Chuan Tin Bakery (at Salazar St.) (try their hopia.
It’s quite famous.)

Lord Stow’s Bakery (at Ongpin St.) (Their egg tarts
are very delicious. If you were to go to only one
place, this would be it)

Shanghai Fried Siopao (at Sabino Padilla St.) (They
serve pork buns, which are fried at the bottom)
